I actually think it's fun when people use their own photos. I think that's what userpics were originally intended to be but...whatever. Also, it's fun to see what someone actually looks like instead of a random actor or whatever. :)

At the top, above the picture of the poppies, it says 'Photos' and 'More photos'.

And I think you make a good point about that being what userpics were originally for.

it's completely ok to make icons of photos. I'd say it's original work if anything. =p plus people do that all the time anyway. ;)
