Ginny had come back to campus the day before in order to get away from the insanity that was The Burrow. The time back on campus before classes started would also allow her some quite time to start in on the required reading for this coming semester ( Read more... )

Travis Briggs was not a fan of his small claustrophobic dorm room anymore than he was of his mum's idea to settle in early. After an hour of putting away clothes and organizing a semester worth of text book, he grabbed his sketch pad and headed out to the quad.

For a winter's day it was surprisingly warm. Though, the cold never bothered Travis all that much. He enjoyed the way the snow looked in the early morning before anyone could disturb it. The only weather he couldn't stand was rain. It ruined his sketches.

As he headed towards his favorite spot he noticed a familiar looking redhead. At first he thought of just picking another bench but the lighting was perfect. Well that and he hadn't spoken to Ginny in a very long time.

"Hey stranger. It looks like you're in my spot," he said, settling down beside her.

When a shadow suddenly fell across her page and a body set next to her, she looked up to see Travis now occupying the other half of the bench. She smiled as she closed her book, making sure to hold her place with a finger, and shifted so that she could talk to him face to face. Or at least as close to face to face as you can be while sitting on a bench.

"Really? I did't see a sign marking this as your spot when I sat down."

"Well, I'd be willing to fight you for it," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. Travis leaned back, shifted towards her, and broke out into a grin.

The first semester had felt strange without the comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The study lounges at Painswick just weren't the same with out the familiar faces.

"I thought I was the only soul on campus."

Ginny giggled the tiniest bit at the idea of them fighting for the bench. It was just too ridiculous to even really address farther. Though it was nice to see a familiar face before classes started again. It gave her some hope that she wouldn't miss the hectic pace of The Burrow too much in the time before classes.

"Yeah. Me too. It's very weird seeing campus this empty."

That was a bit of an understatement. Ginny couldn't remember campus seeming this empty before. Even the couple weeks before classes last semester seemed busier.

"So, were your Winter Hols good?" After she said it she realized how odd and silly that question sounded. So she added, "I mean, before you came back to campus early."

Ginny nodded and took hiccuping breaths in order to try and calm down her laughter. When she got to the point where she was once again able to control it she said, "Yes. We have to do this. We also have to strike when the most people will witness it."

Ginny had learned over the years that the best pranks where the ones pulled off under the nose of a lot of people. They were most likely going to have to pull this off in the dinning hall. It was one of the largest places on campus with a large amount of people who wouldn't suspect anything had been dropped into their drinks.

"And we'll have to hit a few people at the same time," he said, doing his best to picture it. The school was in for it. Nobody would ever suspect two freshmen from Gyffindor to pull something like this off.

"The school will be talking about this for weeks!"

Ginny grinned. If they pulled this off, the school would be buzzing with talk over it. Plus, Fred and George would be so proud of her. The more she thought about it, the more she decided they had to do it.

"Okay. When should we strike? And where? I'm thinking the dinning hall is the best place for it."

"Defintely the dining hall," Travis said, nodding his head in agreement. Ginny had definitely picked up a few things from her older brothers.

"Let's do this the first weekend everyone is back. Everyone will be so distracted with friends they'll never notice us."
