Family Dinner (Closed: Weasley's only beyond this point!)

Dec 03, 2013 20:28

Ginny checked her bag to make sure she had everything before exiting her flat. Tonight was family dinner night at The Burrow and she was actually rather excited about it. Her outings the past few days had her hankering for more of a social life again. About time too. She had spent close to a year hiding away and throwing herself in to her quidditch ( Read more... )

George was running a bit behind in closing up the shop (it was Fred's turn to have an afternoon off, for once), having been caught up rounding up a gaggle of Pygmy Puffs that had been set loose when a toddler had indadvertedly pulled the box off the shelf earlier that day (not to self: put Pygmy Puffs on a higher shelf).

But he'd be damned if he showed up late for family dinner, having previously experienced the repercussions of what such an act of blatant disrespect for your mother and the effort she put into this dinner we raised you better than that George Weasley! So it was that, still covered in Puff fuzz, his pants streaked with scorch marks from yet another one of the day's incidents, he popped up outside of the Burrow, promptly bursting in through the door.

"Hiya Mum! Dad!" he called, wriggling himself out of his coat.

Ginny turned towards the door to see George walk in. "Hey! We're in the kitchen!" Ginny called out to him.

George entered the kitchen a second later. Molly turned from the stove and pulled him into a big hug as well. "So glad you could make it dear. And on time for once!" Molly exclaimed. When she let George go Ginny walked over to give her big brother a hug as well.

"Hey George!" She said as she gave him a hug. It had been a while since she had seen him. He could have looked better but then again, Ginny knew first hand what working in the shop was like. And what being late to dinner was like. Showing up like that was definitely preferable.

On time or not, Ron knew he was going to be in trouble. He'd skipped out on the last few family dinners, and even though he was twenty-five, his mother was still going to try to find a way to punish him. Still, it had no effect on the way he ambled into the kitchen behind his brother, dark sunglasses still hiding his eyes.

"Quite the showing," Ron mused, leaning against the doorframe, "No Fred yet, no Perc. And here I thought I'd be late."

George would've jumped on the opportunity to pick on the obvious flaws in the way in which Ron had just stumbled him, but he knew he would take entirely too much pleasure in letting Molly have at him instead. So he simply stepped out of the way, settling in next to Ginny to watch the show.

It had taken barely a second for Molly Weasley to rile herself up from pleasant, welcoming mother to full on fussing, terrifying, guilt-tripping machine, rounding in on Ron before he'd even gotten the chance to finish his sentence.

"You keep quiet about your brothers Ronald Bilius Weasley, they've all made the effort of showing up, or at least sending word, these past weeks, while I certainly can't say the same for you! And if you think that this is a respectable state to be showing up in, I've got a few words to say to you, mister!" The shrill voice somehow managed to echo through the tiny kitchen as she snatched Ron's sunglasses right of his face, countering the move with a proper smack to the back of his head.
