I hate this:
The Arizona House on Monday approved a measure urging Congress to pass and send the states a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
I like this man:
"In passing this we are seeking to deny civil rights to people who pay their taxes, obey the law and want to be responsible," said Democratic Rep. Phil Lopes of Tucson.I couldn't ( Read more... )

i'm not sure if you're pro-choice as well as down with gay people,
but i'm sort of at a turning point in my life.
i told my mom that i hate all christians the way they hate all gay people.
but she told me that's not fair.
but it's not fair that they hate gay people.
i dont know,
it's rough because not even god will change my mind about abortion either.

whatever, it's hard being liberal, can't wait till tucson !

Your mom is right, in a serious sense.
Hating all Christians is the same thing as them hating all gay people.
Can't promote tolerance with intolerance, of all people, including religious conservatives. There is a line between activism - fighting against what you think is unjust, but providing tolerance to even those you find close minded and shut off from the world.

It's a hard call. Gay people are thrown with stereotypes and standards much like everything in the world, including those who hold a certain political party.

And I can't wait until YOU ARE IN TUCSON!!!! :)

What I learned in one of my classes is that when a Christian or any religious person for that matter shuns other types of people or actions it is because their religion tells them that this is right. Religion is based on faith and not reason. If you think of issues like this based on reason, I strongly feel like we are right unless they or anyone else can prove otherwise. But they don't have to give reasons if they are giving their reasons based on faith. So it kind of has to stick to the whole well this is what I believe to be right and you believe this to be right and unless you are going to give a logical reason why I should believe otherwise then you stick to your faith and don't try to give me any ridiculous reason like being gay is unnatural or harmful. Just say hey I am a Christian and because of this I don't like gay people and then everything will be okay. You can't change a faith so unless they try to get into a discussion with you based on reason hate shouldn't arise. Feel sorry for them for not being able to see issues ( ... )

There can be no reason, if there is no truth. The question of homosexuality, is not right or wrong, but based on an opinion of principle and morals, neither one being worse than the other, but unfortunately, religious activists and extremists on both ends will never TOLERATE that.

And what I mean as truth, is there is no just reasoning on either end. One based on faith and another based on scientific reasoning, either has yet to be proven or solidified to a point where it is understood by all. Perhaps as human beings we are incapable of even coming to the point of this because of such wavering opinions. Basing an opinion on personal opinion or scientific theory is just as much basing your opinion on faith, in my opinion. Nothing is the truth and probably won't be regarding this matter. But then again, nothing is permamanent in the world of reason. Time changes everything.
