Okay, so less than a half-hour ago I was in a real shit mood, and now I'm positively giddy, jumping up and down in my room like I'm fourteen again and I just found out that I am going to see N'SYNC perform live! I am that happy right now!
In all seriousness, I am just so glad to finally have some solid info to work with and speculate on. It hasn't been too much of a problem for me in the Parks fandom, but trust me when I tell you that I am a recovering hard-core spoiler whore, since waaaaay way back in my Buffy/Dawson's Creek days. Back then, there wasn't an episode or storyline I didn't know about months in advance. Even recently I've had to fight the need for my spoiler fix for Vampire Diaries (though it's been easier since I've stepped back from that show a bit). Anyway, I am not at all used to the utter lack of spoilers that we have in Parks fandom. We rarely even get episode titles and vague descriptions any more than two weeks before they air, and that's only the press releases they use for the television guides. I mean, really, every one of these episodes has already been filmed!! WTF?!!
Ummm, yeah, anyways... sorry about that. Sometimes the relapses flare up. ;) But I am very excited to get a proper description of Fancy Party. Sure, Leslie won't be in some elaborate ballgown, and Ben won't be in a tux (maaaaaybe... we never know what Tom might convince him to wear), but I'm pretty sure a "fancy" party hosted by Andy Dwyer and April Ludgate will be far superior to anything I could dream up. Right now I'm predicting a mandatory dress code of kitschy Salvation Army-reject dresses and hobo suits, and a foam-filled mosh pit (sprinkled with rose petals, cuz Andy's classy like that).
And obviously Ben asking Leslie for career advice is a win-win for us - either he's still a state auditor, but he doesn't want to be one anymore (if anything happens along the lines of him telling her "Ask me to stay", I will fall into a bliss coma for weeks... I was nearly catatonic way back when Pacey wrote that same message on Joey's wall); or option number two - Ben loses (or secretly quits) his job early on in the next episode, so he's asking Leslie to help him find work in Pawnee because it would be more convenient (*winkwink*). Both options are potentially amazing in their own ways - we either get the drama and angst of Leslie and/or Ben deciding how important it is for him to stay in Pawnee, or we get the possible comedy and/or drama of Leslie and Ben teaming up to find him the right job and discover exactly how he and his future will fit into Leslie's community in the long-term.
See? Both win-win in my book. ^_^
I think we already knew about all the other episode titles. For some reason, I'm really intrigued by Jerry's Painting. It would be hilarious if it had anything to the one Leslie tossed in the lake way back in Go Big or Go Home, but that's doubtful. Still, it must be at least somewhat deserving if they needed to make a producer's cut of it to fit in important, necessary scenes (that, or there was a loooot of funny ad-libs they weren't willing to part with).
And I'm still super duper excited for Soulmates! My ideal scenario would be that Leslie, Ben, and Tom all get roped into that dating service, and Ben finds out before Leslie that they were matched with each other. He starts to freak out because he doesn't want her to know his true feelings yet (of course, Ben vocalizes this somehow to someone *coughTomcough* in the previous episode), so Tom, being the awesome BFF that he is, falls on his sword and switches the results so that Leslie thinks HE is her soulmate. Cue Leslie freaking out and over-analyzing this with Ann.
Okay, wow, that's more than enough speculating from me. DAMN! I've been writing this for a half hour. Yeesh. It's times like these that make me really wish we had a Parks forum for discussions and speculation and stuff. Tumblr and LiveJournal are great, but they're not the most convenient means for fluid conversation.
If anyone else wants to discuss their own interpretations of the spoilers and their spec about the rest of the season, please feel free to message me through my Ask here on Tumblr or through my LJ. I don't want to sound too needy or anything (lol, waaaay too late for that...), but I miss this speculation aspect of fandom, and everyone in my RL would think I was a crazy person if they actually knew how much I thought about this stuff!
