Ok, Clubbers, I have to run in a few and teach my students about standard deviations so will have to respond with more of my own thoughts later, but for the sake of getting the post up...

Sorry for being absentee up til now, but UM HOLY SHIT. Serious, serious kudos to the show, and serious, serious tears for Will.

And you know what, Will was Kalinda's LAST FRIEND who she actually liked and wasn't engaged in some sort of sexual power struggle with. I will miss that bro-ship so, so much, and Kalinda must just feel like life is a horrible thing where nothing good ever happens.

Being a Kalinda fan is SO EFFING HEARTBREAKING! And she's the character who deserves it the least IMO.

I was very pleased with how her character was serviced in this episode. But I will be furious if the aftermath from here is all Alicia and Diane.

Sorry, but Kalinda never screwed Will over like the other two did. Kalinda was unstintingly loyal to him and he was to her. They talked to each other about things they kept private from everyone else. I need to see that bond honoured in future episodes. Or or or ELSE!

That preview looked promising … I could imagine Kalinda on a revenge-quest.

My first thought was "Did Shonda Rhimes consult on this?". But then, it struck me as brilliant-- how it was just random, and one minute Will was part of the everything and then poof. Especially with all the Alicia stuff just left hanging-- just brilliant ( ... )

I think it's kind of funny how, no matter how sad/awful this whole thing is, Kalicia shippers are like, "...but there were A/K references, so it's really not that bad." Like, the fact that they were in each other's mental orbit trumps the horrible death of a main character.

THIS IS WHAT YOU'VE REDUCED US TO, SHOW.

Yes, exactly--I kind of hate myself for it, but there it is: parts of the episode really made me happy, just because any teeny tiny little A/K ANYTHING makes me reflexively happy. It's really bad. STUPID, STUPID SHOW!!

I think I've been clicker-trained on A/K references... same thing happened here too.

While across the couch, the Missus (fave character Will) was genuinely distraught and crying. I felt like such a heel!

Oh dear! This is seriously NOT the place to stay unspoiled :-o (Promos and future plot rumours are fair game here too -- so be warned.)

However welcome to the Kalicia gang! :-)

No, no. I'm an adult, I did it to myself. No worries. :)

Yeah, I'm pretty good at the self-inflicted wounds myself.

You know, I was gonna just sit here in my corner and quietly NOT comment on anything and stop watching altogether and then I read a theory Friday or Saturday and then I read that it has actually happened.

On one hand, I must admit, reluctantly that is, that they had balls to actually go there. On the other hand, I kinda think they just went for the shock value and I'm...meh!

Bottom line for me though is that aside Kalinda, Will was my favorite character. And with Kalicia dead, Kalinda's storylines pretty much gone, my hatred for Alicia and now with Will gone, I really don't feel like there's anything for me to come back to.

, and Kalinda must just feel like life is a horrible thing where nothing good ever happens.

THIS! SO much this. My poor bby Kalinda! :( I think this is one of the things I hate most about this show: it's realistic in some aspects, i.e. shitty things happening to good people - Kalinda, Will, Diane and yet is over the top ridiculous in other instances.

I think Kalinda has absolute justification to never be vulnerable or care about anybody else ever again. I hope she doesn't go that route, but I wouldn't blame her!

Sure, it was shock value. No matter what, it's still a drama. But if they've lost you, they've lost you -- once your love is gone, there's not a whole lot a show can do to get it back. I've been there. :(

Poor bby, K! I wouldn't blame her either. But isn't a freakin'TV show supposed to give you hope? If not even fictional characters can be happy, then what can we expect?

You're totally right, I have really lost the love :( Still love the BC, though :) Hence me still hanging around.

This might well end up being a jump-the-shark moment for the show, or it might end up deepening and shifting Alicia in exciting ways. Given how the show has been handling things lately, let's just say that I'm . . . skeptical. But one thing I'm fairly sure of is that in the fabled "real life" that JM is so fond of talking about, this kind of thing would bring Alicia and Kalinda closer together. Whether it does that in the world of JM, who can say?

By the way, take a look at this video, which has some clips from next week's episode. What I'm particularly interested in is at 1:33 and again at 2:10--I think that there's a good chance that the person that Alicia is looking at there is Kalinda. Since she turns away in 2.10, it doesn't end with the two of them falling into each other's arms, but we'll see if I'm right. It's possible to film something like that on two separate sets, of course. If they end the season with Alicia and Kalinda never sharing a single scene, I don't see how ANYONE could maintain that there aren't backstage ( ... )

I can't really bring myself to think like that. It's entirely possible that you're right...and it does seem somewhat plausible. But I'm gonna be annoyed if I get that in my head and then it's yet another instance of us desperately grasping at straws.

I was also thinking that it could be her looking at his empty office...having another one of her memory pops. They did say the next ep is going to be flashback heavy.

Well, you're right, of course--I certainly don't want to fall back into the hoping-for-Kalicia rabbit hole, especially with so little of anything resembling rational reinforcement. I just can't BELIEVE that they wouldn't let Alicia have a conversation with Kalinda, AFTER KALINDA WAS THE ONE WHO TOLD HER ABOUT WILL AND AFTER KALINDA CRIED WHILE DOING IT. I'm sorry, but bringing Alicia and Diane closer together is a pretty poor substitute for what really *should* be happening!

What kills me is that if JM hadn't smothered Kalicia entirely, this would be such a GREAT setup for a potentially romantic Kalicia endgame: Will dead, Alicia questioning everything, willing to try for the happiness that she couldn't manage to try to cling to before, determined not to be the victim of bad timing a second time . . . and it's never to be. Dammit!

You're definitely right on this one. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, seeing as we all know JM's feelings regarding Kalinda. I'd like to see if she believes that they could at least grieve together. Or near each other.
