Although it feels an impossibility that she'll realize Kalinda is the anchor she needs, it is obvious in my headcanon.

I think it's proof of how perverse my relationship with the show has become that I enjoy seeing Alicia miserable since I can fanwank that into "and her life would be better with Kalinda in it."

I think I have given up hope of ever seeing any movement. I think we'll get an odd stab in the heart when we see how much Kalinda cares still and that will be it.

If the season closes with Alicia deciding to do something about her life and joining Kalinda in a bar, I'll faint with surprise.

I continue to be irked by Finn's screentime and haven't seen much to suggest dimensionality there yetI'm also irked by how he and Alicia are totes new best friends. It seems a bit desperate to me. Anyone else? I mean I'm happy for her to have someone in her life she actually likes, but...yeah, you guys know where I'm headed ( ... )

*calmly steps into the same boat* Yeah...

I suppose Finn is a relief for Alicia because he doesn't want anything from her? She's helped him and he's all like, okays, back to work, thanks friend Alicia.

Well, you are a better person than I am, I just enjoy seeing Alicia miserable because I stopped liking her a long time ago;) And because yes, it is so blatantly obvious who she ought to be turning to.

This is the WORST. Why are they doing that?? To be able to tell the audience "See?! We haven't dropped this relationship! What are you talking about??" To leave the possibility open that if JM had a miraculous, near-death-inspired change of heart, they could bring A/K back? Without any context it is writer sadism. And I imagine people who just picked up the show this season being like "what on Earth are they referencing??".

I'm just glad they actually gave Kalinda stuff to do! (Archie must have been so damned bored last week)

I must be the only one who isn't irked by Finn? Must be because I still think of him as Heck! (Although he IS taking up valuable screen time) It would be nice though if she and Finn became friends and then happen to bump into Kalinda at the bar, and Finn goes "Woah, is she an ex?" or something that HIGHLIGHTS Kalinda's adoring eyes. Or I dunno, something for Alicia to really realise just how much Kalinda cares for her!

But yes glad there is more Kalinda/Diane sticking together going on. (Kalinda did, after all, teach Diane how to shoot)

(Have they just "whatever'd" the Zach & pot thing?)

lol, yes, and then he says: "Well done!"

God, that would make up for so much, teehee.

Exactly! An outsider (or new friend who hasn't been around since the beginning of Alicia & Kalinda's relationship to pick up that there are still feelings between the two of them!)

Sounds like a pretty good fanfic to me!

(No clue what's to become of pothead Zach.)

And GW just hit a series low in the demo with this episode.

What's that? You mean it wasn't a good idea to center the show for a year around Will and Willicia, continuing to marginalize the rest of the cast rather than beef up their presence with story in anticipation of the post-Will era, and in the aftermath continue to marginalize the rest of the cast while giving heavy airtime to a newbie? And, of course, continue the parade of guest stars?

I love Matthew Goode and I like Finn, but let's be real. 5 2/3 seasons in, viewers are not going to watch for new characters; they want to see the original characters they know and love. The Kings centered the show around Willicia for a year, had Palicia separate for the third time in the immediate aftermath of Will's death, allowed JM to shove the Kalicia relationship offscreen...and, what, they're hoping that a Finn/Alicia ship will mollify all these burned shippers? Hahahahaha.

I hadn't thought about it this way, but yes, so much word to this! The Kings have effectively sunk every ship there is. LOL. Talk about cutting the branch from under your feet!

Maybe they are hoping that Finnicia will pick up new viewers and re-engerize the casual watchers? I have no idea what their game is, really. There *are* fans who need only a pretty face to get excited, or a suggestion of chemistry. There are others who don't care about the romance. Still, most people care about the characters. I'd like to think if Kalinda went the way of Will, that many if not most fans would be like "...this isn't what I signed up for."

Or, you know, maybe the critics would still be raving at how phenomenal and surprising the show is.

I'm just so whatever about all of the show that I can't really offer a proper opinion. But even so, I still think killing off Will was not a good move in the long run. Sure, it was great television, unexpected, balsy, etc, etc. But now...there's a void that cannot be filled. Diane is lonely and alone and nobody can replace the Will and Diane dynamic. Kalinda/Will brotp is also gone, leaving her without ANOTHER character to interact with. Willicia is also gone and they were/are quite numerous. Peter and Alicia also seem to finally be over. I won't even mention Kalicia, because of reasons ( ... )

What's really been bugging me is that immediately after Will's death, Kalinda was experiencing some pretty stressful, traumatic emotions. No one was there to help her through the situation (typical). And yet now everything's okay again? I'm no expert, but I feel like a situation like that doesn't just resolve itself quite so swiftly and neatly. And I don't think I'll ever be able to enjoy Finn's presence on the show when the writers gave him more plot ramifications from Will's death than Kalinda :\

I think it's proof of how perverse my relationship with the show has become that I enjoy seeing Alicia miserable since I can fanwank that into "and her life would be better with Kalinda in it."Right there with you, yo. Any time she's feeling conflicted/confused (which is basically all the time now), I think to myself, "None of this would be happening if you'd just talk with your adorable, hopelessly-in-love puppy dog, Kalinda." Girl can give out some good advice ( ... )

Seemingly! Although there was an unidentified couple doing the deed in the promo for next week. It could have been Cary and Kalinda (it looked like Matt's chest -- I can't believe I have an opinion on the matter!) And maybe there will be more watermelon biting the bullet? Probably not, but you never know.

I have been working under the (possibly poor) assumption that they will eventually go back to Kalinda's trauma -- I don't think she has had a scene with Cary since she ran out on him, so I would expect some awkwardness and a call-back if there is continuity.

When Alicia is purposefully avoiding the person who could help me most, she deserves to be miserable. /horribleperson

If someone wouldn't let me off the elevator at work, I'd be all "WHAT ARE YOU HIDING???" and storm the place. Maybe Alicia is more trusting than she thinks she is!

Mmmmmm, I like Finn, but I'm feeling zilch as far as Leading Man vibe. Too much aw-heck there for me. And I would say that even if I werent pining for Alicia to be pining for Kalinda - which she would be doing if she had one limping cel of Pheremonic Sizzle Detector left in her entire, eerily thin body. Harumph!

And I'm with the chicas doubting Cary's good intentions. He already knows that Alicia discussed a merger with Diane behind his back. Plus, he is as schemingly, ruthlessly ambitious as Will ever was. I'm staying tuned for betrayal - likely in both directions, on that front.

This is getting so frustrating that I am beginning to understand the fanfic writing compulsion. I'm starting to feel plotlines (new, improved, unsanctioned) spooling in my wee head.

I hearby officially dub "Finnirkity" into TGW fandom vernacular. Good show, Case.

I wish we hadn't already called a previous ficathon the "fix-a-thon" -- never have so many things needed fixing as now!!

Yes, "fix-a-thon" was used already, but "fic-a-thong" has not, amirite?! Every prompt, on every subject, would have to get either Kalinda or Alicia down to wearing nothing but a thong. Genius!

There would still be storytelling flexibility, you see, because the "thong" could be either the underwear kind OR the footwear flip-flops variety.
