She doesn’t know what to say so she brings him albums.
First Ravel, because Jeux D’eau makes her cry and if she’s having some private time with him she wants to bury her apprehension under the guise of arpeggio. She knows he’s more of a heavy strings guy and that she should have sprung for something a little less romantic like Wagner or Prokofiev. Perhaps tomorrow.
It’s been a week and he’s still unconscious. She plays him Going to California tangling their fingers together wishing that’s what they were doing. The pragmatist in her has taken a leave of absence. A sabbatical with no return in sight. Though a welcome distraction, it is also nerve wracking. Is he going to die? Maybe? No. Yes, well, yes it’s entirely a possibility… Her visions of hope are clouded ( ... )

I've been on such a Ravel kick these last few weeks. La Valse. Oh MAN. I've also been shamelessly obsessed with Martha Argerich recently, hence working in a little Prokofiev ;)
