On a scale of 1-10 just how big of a no-no is a resume that exceeds one page? Discuss.

i have always been told one page until a teacher last semester who swore it didn't matter. it if looks really really squished i would say make it two. if it looks okay and is readable then keep it one!

I would use the rule of thumb that if you are sending it to HR, use one page, but if it's a small company or organization that doesn't have a whole HR department, feel free to use two.

one page, definitely. let me know what you're up to and we can sit down and i'll help you reformat, resumes are kind of my thing.

one page is definitely preferable, but not if it cuts out things that are valuable. my resume is two pages. get somebody in the social work department to look it over as well as somebody in the career development place; they'll have two different but informed opinions on it.

ha! i look over resumes at work. unless you've done post-grad work or have had a lot published more than one page tends to look sloppy.

nono level of 6?

10 - blank
9 - burnt
8 - singed and/or smelly
...
4- too perfect, suspicious
...
1 - almost perfect
