In a few short hours I'll be going for my Lasik. I'm excited but kinda nervous, but more excited :) I can't quite decide how I feel. Right now all I want to do is sleep. I didn't get much sleep last night and the little bit I did get wasn't great

Oh no...I'm so sorry to hear about Spike's death. *sad* I remember talking with you about our cockatiel's in common in the past and what a huge kick and great love with get from them. It was really special that you were there with him, that he wasn't alone, but I can imagine, really hard for you, too.

My heartfelt sympathies to your mom, too. Mine is getting older, and I admit, I worry about that, too, because they are such a huge part of our lives, aren't they?

I hope that your Lasik procedure was a brilliant and amazing success, though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, even though I imagine it must be well after the fact. *good thoughts and sympathy, too*

I'm feeling much better about Spike today. When Nick gets home from work we're going to find him a nice spot in the yard. He always loved being outside with us so I thought that was the perfect place for him.

As far as the Lasik everything went great and was really easy (and I have to say -- I really love Valium!) I wasn't too nervous to start with and everyone puts you at ease but that little pill took that last little bit of edge off (and reminded me how much fun it was to feel a little tipsy ;)

I didn't sleep well b/c of the goggles I have to wear (so I don't rub my eyes in my sleep) but I'm hoping a nap during the day today will help get me back on track.

Thank you so much for all of your warm thoughts, with SPike and with the surgery. They are very, very much appreciated.
