I understand where you're coming from. With my ex, there was a lot of love, too...but in the end, there were differences in what we wanted. It used to bug me when she'd say that sometimes love wasn't enough (quoting that stupid song), but, sadly, there's times when it isn't. Doesn't mean you don't love the person, but there eventually reaches a point where you need to take care of yourself, stop putting your wants and needs on a shelf.

Finding someone who can, if not actively participate in your interests, at very least support them, is a very important thing. Having the freedom to say (for instance), "You know, I've been interested in snowboarding, I'd like to give it a try," and have your SO think that was a great idea is very empowering. Having them go along with it too, to give you support when things get tough, is even better.

allardk has some food issues too, so we take them into account for most meals. Doesn't mean I don't occasionally grab a hot dog or something, but ( ... )
