As the subject states, this is not going to be something that everyone agrees upon and some might feel like what I am about to say is racist but so be it. I would also like to say that I am trying to not be racist in saying this

There was nothing racist about this. It is a stigma attached to these people and it's very sad, you are right. I agree, there is noting in Quran that depicts killing of others in a way that we have made these people out to be. Much of this religion is very beautiful. However, I do think that these people feel targeted, and, unfortunately, target people lash out....because they are angry...that they are targeted. I know...makes no sense...but it makes a lot of sense in that same right.
Unfortunately, the Muslim community is divided on the issues of jihad and how to deal with people outside the faith. The traditional idea of the jihad is a Muslim's personal inner struggle, to adhere to his faith and the laws set down by Islam. Their view on outsiders is generally peaceful. However, what we generally see on the news are the radicals who believe that they must eliminate Western-type culture as a threat to their own ways. They're definitely not representative of the majority of Muslim people, but when they're the only ones people hear about on the news (especially people who live in Bumfuck, America), you see a lot of racist, specific-religion-targeted bs crop up from people who don't get that very few people out of the whole of the Islam community want to actively harm us.
yes, and think about the people who view them as such. They are generally uneducated and also riding the coattails of extremism themselves. There is no doubt that people who use their religion as a base for killing others are extremists. That's no new news to you or I. However, those who sociotype a culture due to extremists are also at fault. They are extreme in their thoughts and/or actions and generally have some sort of construed idea of Christianity in their heads that causes those ill-minded thoughts.
Let's take the West Borro Baptists Church for instance. Would you like to say that represents your religion? Yea...no.
As I am sure people do not want to say that extremists in the muslim faith also do not represent them.
