wow, today was out of control. out of control in both as many good ways as it was in bad ways. so here goes my attempt to summarize one hell of a day in one stunning LJ entry. i know im going to forget a bunch of things, but i have no doubt christy will comment and remind me of them later. just warning you now, this is going to be a terribly long entry...
so, as many of you know, a CC and CCS (chem crew spectator) mos trip has been in the works for quite sometime now. the only problem is that everyone is either working, skating, dancing, at meetings, etc. whenever we want to go. our last attempt was a bust because mother nature was horribly mean to us and smacked us with a noreaster. this time, deirdre had skating, colleen had a bank meeting, and dan was working, so it just ended up being christy, john and myself. we decided we might as well go, just the three of us because hey, what else were we doing? anyways christy had to work at 5, so the plan was to go in on the 9:24 train and then come home on the 2:45 train. therefore, we were going to meet at the train station at 9:15 so we wouldnt miss the train.
alright, so in the morning i drove to the other side of town becuz the dunkies on this side of town had an insufficient amount of munchkins (or none at all), go talk to ms barr for a bit, hang out with my favorite latin class, go to the bank, go back to my car to get a check, go back to the bank, and still manage to get to the train station on time. so i'm standing on the platform and i get a phone call from christy who is lost. shes by the foundry driving in circles, and has no idea where the station is. i give her directions and then i see john and then i see the train... oh yes.. the train. so john runs in and buys us tickets, and i frantically call christy like where are you!?? she cant find a place to park and we miss the train. the next train isnt until 11:06, so we decide to drive. haha great idea.
obviously we got lost. my genius father gave us directions to the mfa becuz thats where he thought we were going, even tho i already knew how to get there. so we are in chinatown and i ask a cop with a horrible boston accent and he gives us directions, but they turn out to be wrong! he tells us to take a left onto a one way street that is going the other direction, thanks a lot. it actually turned out that he was trying to get us to the childrens musuem anyways becuz there is no bottle at the mos. so, we end up in southie, then we call christy's mom, and were driving in circles around the north end. then my dad calls and theyre giving conflicting directions, like no what are they talking about you go here not there... yeah so we are on the verge of giving up and just going out to lunch in the north end when we see a huge sign for the mos.
once we were inside the mos, it was incredible. its ridiculous that we could have had this much fun when surrounded by 5 year old children and humungous field trip groups (that all wear matching outfits.. it was insane) anyways ill be here all day if i try and go into detail about everything that happened so here are some of the highlights.
the butterfly garden... very cool. except it smelt funny and was hot and much smaller than i thought. we also thought they could use about 100 more butterflies. the ones that were there were sooo pretty tho. two of them were mating and then they stopped and one attacked christy, it was great. it had a pretty view too, it was really relaxing and i had wanted to see it for awhile.
lunch where we felt like the unpopular kids at school and had absolutely nowhere to sit until we got flagged down by a creepy mos worker who told us to come sit with him and then he started to talk to us.... hmm
make your own museum where we may have created CC and WM exhibits and put them on display for the world to see. dont worry, we have pictures.
there was a live animal show with a bobcat. i really liked it and i think christy did too, but john found it incredibly boring. and some very "large" girl got mad at me cuz i started laughing when she sat in front of christy and blocked her view and christy had to move.
musical stairs, they speak for themselves. i think all stairs should play music.
then i spy a dippin dots vending machine! so we try it out and its the best thing ever. except it comes out in this package that you just tear the top off. so one wonders, how are you supposed to eat them? so we go to the cafeteria again, and make three bowls for ourselves out of cup lids. we must have looked like such goons, just sitting at a table eating dippin dots out of the drink lids with our plastic spoons haha. oh yeah and then there were the comment cards we filled out.... muahaha
the gift shop... there was a total steve the dragon oulette shirt that said what part of (incredibly complex math equation with triple integrals and respect to velocity, x, y, z, pie, etc) dont you understand? some other nice ones too, but that was definately the favorite.
the aztec clock, where the pendulum knocks down pieces of metal every hour. so we watched and watched and watched from 12:50 to 1:05 and nothing happened. then we came back later and it had been knocked down... very disappointing.
the mathmatics room.. christy asked some poor unsuspecting soul to take our picture under the huge MATH sign while we were doing the WM symbol.. haha. that room really was wicked interesting tho, one of my favorites in the museum. we saw our buddy reimann and some others. the dragon def woulda appreciated it. haha
we learned about drugs, created exceptional artwork with strings of magnets, set up our rooms, totally failed at classifying pottery, took pictures with moose, almost got to hang out in the apollo 13 command center until we got cut off by some children, and much more. it was one of the best days ever. we are totally planning a trip back again this summer, with everybody, and this time we are going to spend all day and see the electricity show, the planetarium and all the other stuff we didnt have time for today. i really cant wait. i honestly could have stayed for an entire week without running out of things to do. oh, and i managed to get us home without getting lost.
alright well i am going to go get some rest since im incredibly tired becuz i am not used to waking up before 1030 these days. i probably wont be home til late and then i get to work 9:30-5 tomorrow on a day that was supposed to be my day off. anyways, the day can only get better since tonight is michelles birthday celebration and then our trip to the baseball game. so maybe this entry was a little premature because since the day isnt close to being over, and it could possibly become even more out of control.
ps- i think this entry was longer than every single one of my english essays this year. (i miss good 'ol doc farrell)
