Breeze 001 [voice]

Jun 05, 2011 10:07

[The message begins with only quiet over the line. Then there's the sound of a few buttons being pressed, like the person using the Gear isn't sure that it's already on. Some more shuffling, and then a deep breath.]

... Hello?

[A pause. Then a soft mumbling that sounds like "should be recording" might be caught by the best listeners.]I'm sorry ( Read more... )

cubone is cute ♥, no idea what she's getting into, lost little lamb, a rocket is born!, mediocre with technology, not in kansas anymore, area: mahogany town

[ His attention already pinged when he heard the familiar voice, but his suspicions were confirmed when the woman stated her name - but it seems that she's different from the last Iris that was here, and instead of that happy Chikorita she has... a Cubone. ]

Miss Iris?

[So someone was listening. It sounded like a child, though the voice was somber in a way. Luckily, she figured out the big button on the gear was the one that would turn on the audio function when pressed.]

Hello! This is Iris. What's your name?

[ Here's a little pause. Then... ]

My name is Miles Edgeworth.

Miles Edgeworth. Mr. Prosecutor? You sound... [Like a child? Strange?]

.... different.

You're not wherever that "Detention Center" thing is anymore. This is a different world.

A different world?

........

What does that mean?

[Yeah, she's completely lost.]

It means that whatever world you were in before, you're not in that world anymore.

This place is called Johto.

[Okay. That sounds only kind of crazy. At least she was consistent.]

Johto? Then do you mean this is... the afterlife?

[She was stuck in a cave before now. Maybe she froze to death. It wasn't completely unlikely. It was odd, though. She would have thought the afterlife would come with more than just a bag of strange odds and ends and a letter from some boss she didn't know of.]

[Oh shit. Yes it is.]

[That kind of raspy voice wasn't one she recognized.]

Yes? Hello?

[This saddens Stitch]

I.. uhm. Do you.. remember this place?

Remember? No, I don't think I've ever been here before. [She doesn't recognize the building, and she certainly doesn't recognize Johto.]

Should I know you? Others have said that I'm not new to this place.

[So strange to think about.]

[Familiar voice he's missed! ...Apparently without memories of Johto, but still.]

Welcome back, Sister Iris. Would the Pokémon next to you be called a Cubone, by chance?

Welcome back? [And its a video that's shown up on her little device! She stares into it, curious and amazed. Oh, technology is a mysterious thing.]

Is it... oh! Oh, I think you may be right. [She smiles down hesitantly at the Cubone peeking suspiciously from behind her pants leg, unsure of what to think of the man on the screen. Personally, Iris isn't sure what to think of either of them, but she's trying to handle the situation as gracefully as possible.]

People sometimes find themselves here, return home, and are brought back without their memories. That appears to be the case with you.

[Still, merely seeing her is enough to make him happy.]

This one is a Ground-type, so you might have a slight disadvantage on the road to Cherrygrove. Perhaps you should try to find a travelling partner.

I'm sorry. [But even as she apologizes, she smiles. He doesn't seem upset, at least, so maybe there's no reason to feel bad about it.]

Road to...? Oh, yes! [Her smile is now just a tiny bit pained.] Cherrygrove. Miles said the same thing. Of course, I'll definitely ask for some help.

[As Larry checks the network for the wave of newcomers, he certainly isn't expecting to hear a voice this familiar.

He freezes completely as he listens to the post. She's back already. Already racking his brain to try to think of a response, he nearly misses the key point of the post.

She doesn't remember.

His heart sinks. Well, of course he had to be prepared that this might happen, but it still hurts. He also feels a bit of pain for Bikini the Bayleef who doesn't know the news yet. Regardless, he's going to talk to her. It sounds like she might know him back home now at least.]

Johto is weird like that. But don't worry, we can hear you.

Oh! [At last! A voice she remembers! And it actually sounds like the person at the age she remembers, not just a kid claiming to be someone else she knows!]

Mr. Laurice! So you have been moved to Johto as well! I'm glad you heard me. I was starting to worry.

[She breathes a sigh of relief. She didn't always understand him--he was an artist, so she knew better than to assume she could easily understand him--but he had always seemed like such a kind and devoted fellow. She almost immediately felt a little better knowing she really wasn't alone.]

[So she does know him now. That's good, at least. Larry tries to stay cheery.]

In the flesh! But man, it's been a long time since I've gone by that name. S'cause I've been here a while. Uh... [He pauses to actually count how long it's been since he arrived.] Ten months! Jeez, I didn't realize it'd been that long.

[Realizing he's rambling, he pauses again to get back on track.] It's great to see you again, Iris. Or hear, I guess. Heh.

You've been here for ten months! [She's totally floored by that.] I hope it hasn't been too hard on you being away from home, Mr. Laurice.

It is wonderful to hear from you as well! Especially since it seems you're still the same age [her voice grows increasingly uncertain.] I... knew you at?
