[The message begins with only quiet over the line. Then there's the sound of a few buttons being pressed, like the person using the Gear isn't sure that it's already on. Some more shuffling, and then a deep breath.]
... Hello?
[A pause. Then a soft mumbling that sounds like "should be recording" might be caught by the best listeners.]I'm sorry

He freezes completely as he listens to the post. She's back already. Already racking his brain to try to think of a response, he nearly misses the key point of the post.
She doesn't remember.
His heart sinks. Well, of course he had to be prepared that this might happen, but it still hurts. He also feels a bit of pain for Bikini the Bayleef who doesn't know the news yet. Regardless, he's going to talk to her. It sounds like she might know him back home now at least.]
Johto is weird like that. But don't worry, we can hear you.

Mr. Laurice! So you have been moved to Johto as well! I'm glad you heard me. I was starting to worry.
[She breathes a sigh of relief. She didn't always understand him--he was an artist, so she knew better than to assume she could easily understand him--but he had always seemed like such a kind and devoted fellow. She almost immediately felt a little better knowing she really wasn't alone.]

In the flesh! But man, it's been a long time since I've gone by that name. S'cause I've been here a while. Uh... [He pauses to actually count how long it's been since he arrived.] Ten months! Jeez, I didn't realize it'd been that long.
[Realizing he's rambling, he pauses again to get back on track.] It's great to see you again, Iris. Or hear, I guess. Heh.

It is wonderful to hear from you as well! Especially since it seems you're still the same age [her voice grows increasingly uncertain.] I... knew you at?

Weeeeell, I'm a year older since my birthday passed a couple months ago. But practically the same, right? [He laughs lightly.] You must've met Edgey, huh? I won't lie, I was floored when he showed up at that age.

Happy birthday, Mr. Laurice. And I did hear from Miles. It was quite the surprise. I remember him being a rather sour-faced prosecutor, but now he coudln't be more than twelve years old.

Thanks! Yeah, it was crazy. It was like a blast from the past smacking me in the face.
Oh yeah, you can just call me Larry now if you want. I don't really go by my artist name anymore. The art career's on pause at the moment. Gotta be a Pokémon master now! [Another laugh.]

It's still a little hard to believe, but he knew so much... [Too much, and perhaps too little too.]
Larry? Then... oh, Laurice was your artists name because it was similar to Mystic Elise's, right? [She's rather proud she's made the connection, but also sad, recalling the recent happenings back home.] It sounds like you don't mind being here as much as others I've met. You like the Pokemon?

I know! He's a good kid though. A really good kid. Just as good as I remember.
[He's nodding...although obviously Iris can't see that.] Uh-huh. [And then he sighs. His mentor...another name he hadn't heard in a while. Knowing what point in time Iris is, her murder must have just occurred.] I really do miss her.
Yeah, Pokémon are great! I loved them as a kid, so being here is like living a childhood dream.

He's been very helpful. Just like back home.
.... I'm sorry. [She wonders if he realizes her part in his mentor's murder. Perhaps, perhaps not. She really hopes not but she won't deny it if it comes up.]
As a kid? You knew of this before? [Never even held a gameboy in her life.]

Sure did. Pokémon was a suuuuper popular video game back in the day. 'Cept we didn't have Johto or all these new Pokémon.

Is that so? I never knew it was a video game. I never got to play many of those.
