In my Multi Cultural British Lit class yesterday we watch the first 15 mins of Dr. No, and then has a rousing discussion about race, identity, blah blah blah

I love Connery. LURVE him. Snark runs through his veins instead of blood. So, he is my favorite. But you know, Roger Moore was no slouch, either. He was so very elegant. He did most of his acting with his eyes.
Back to Connery. Who else could say "Pussy" with such aplomb? I've always actually hated that word, but the way he says it, it's like the word itself is a steak to be savored. (Pussy Galore has to be the best Bond character name ever.)
The worst ever? Timothy Dalton. I hate to say it, because he is a fine actor, but he was just not Bond. The second runner up for worst? Brosnan. He was suave, but he just didn't give the role the proper homage.
You know, I don't know. I really love Connery. REALLY! But Mr. Craig is so damn sexy himself. But, I think Connery makes a better Bond. Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably change my mind.
Well, just looking at DC, he's hot. But I have a friend who looks like him, only without the health club membership. Decidedly unbuff. And there is no attraction there, you know?
Here's the thing. Maybe it's generational, but Daniel Craig possibly tops Connery for me. It's that Craig is not smooth -- he's rough with an indefinable edge that the other Bonds, to me, don't quite have. He doesn't have polish -- the other Bonds all have polish (esp. Pierce Brosnan, dear God). He's charming because of his lack of charm (and subtlety).
Isn't that it, though? Isn't Bond supposed to be the debonair, smooth-talking, English spy? I guess the question comes down to who pulls English off best?
Daniel Craig, he is sooo Bond; the rugged, take no shit, always getting into trouble, hard assed Bond. BUT, before he came on the scene, it was Sean Connery all the way. I'll still watch anything he is in, because his voice is just delicious.
I liked Roger Moore best. For me the juxtaposition of his smooth elegance and pretty face against his quiet ease at defeating the bad guys using whatever came to his hand (or other parts) gives him my vote. He was beautiful to watch and his Bond never took himself at all seriously until it was time to kill the baddies. Then he was all business. I liked the humor of the Bond movies linked to the gadgets and international scale villains. It was the merging of those elements that made the series so successful.
Sean Connery is my second favorite. Somehow Brosnan, who was supposed to carry off the whimsical attitude, couldn't quite manage it like Moore could. Craig is very dark and dense with little humor to him. Dalton? Like cardboard. And Lazenby made me yawn. I liked David Niven, but his Bond was a spoof in the original Casino Royale.
