I suppose it's why straight people think gay marriage is horrible and their business.

Or on the flip side, it's why anyone cares about anything that doesn't effect them - it's the decent thing to do as a human being. Learn about the world, even if that is only as far as things happening in your community, and stop being willfully ignorant. Asshat.

Pretty much, Chris, it comes down to this. My little brother is going to be a freshman this year in band. He came home from that meeting today, and didn't know rather or not to be upset about the situation since he's never been able to experience it. My brother knows he's a loser, who's going to probably going to get picked on quite a bit, but that's part of the band experience. It happens to everyone. But the fact that he doesn't realise what he's missing out on upsets me even more.

However, just because I'm not inrolled in the school anymore doesn't mean that I don't care about what happens there. Band was a huge part of my life...the people who are still there who we love who are missing out on these great opportunities, THAT'S why we care.

That's why they're getting that auditorium in a few years, and the school fixed up. Because enough of us still care about the place where we grew up to not say, "Oh well, it won't affect me, why should I care?"

On one side, I don't think Joe and the others involved should be to blame. They were joking around, and I'm under the impression that the family of the kid that was taped to the chair thought it would be great for things like that to happen to him. It was stupid though, and they should be punished I suppose (though really, who has been hurt?). Taking away one of the only things I actually enjoyed about band, that's just shitty. Hell, my favorite thing about band was getting J as a roommate 2 years in a row. That was fun.

I'm guessing this was Kruger's decision, and I can't really fathom the mentality that leads to punishing a large group of people for a few doing something. I understand using that sort of thing as a threat to a group of nine year olds, but really ( ... )

But come on, even if you were gonna duct tape someone to a chair, would you actually do it in a school classroom where anyone could walk in?

Stupidity rules band. If one person fucks up, everyone else is screwed.

People are only pissed b/c that group was caught in the act. If something was said about it, around now, I doubt anyone would care. Brittani took a damn picture of it!

I'm telling you, people are so stupid.

Yes, people are immensly stupid. It occurs to me that people are only ever upset about an event if they find out about it. It was a stupid thing to do, but nothing that should be the cause of stopping the joy of camp of all things.

People in the band were quite stupid.. there's a reason I got out early, after all. heh

Well, do we know that this was Kruger's decision and not the administrations?

I don't know why everyone thinks I left that comment- personally I could care less what goes on

I wasn't going to give recognition to the obvious stupidity we have here, but I feel that I need to comment in reply because now I'm pissed off.

The anonymous comment was you, and you left one on Jess's journal too. How hard was this to figure out? Not very.

As if the dash-space thing you like to do paired with the misuse of "your" wasn't enough to give away the fact that it was you, all I had to do was take a quick look at my entry's comment page. And when I get there, I see this:

who said there would be no more instructors- because there still will be with the new format.

Are you gonna live your life through high school your whole life? Just answer that question. "I have a heart" please, I mean so your brother is gonna be a freshman. What happened with band just being about playing music. You make band camp sound like it was a vacation of sorts when actually it was work. Leave a comment if you want I don't care but just remember- you can't live your life through high school memories

You know, we graduated a few days ago rather than years. Who needs to stop living in the past?

Unbelievable is the correct words to describe this.

Just nuts.

Definitely. It's been blown totally out of proportion, and carried too far. It's completely unfair to the rest of the band, who did nothing wrong.

And yes, most of all, it's sad. :(

has anyone noticed that Kruger doesn't do anything unless there is money attached. the band, jazz in particular, had a few exposure gigs they could have done. exposure=more gigs=more $$$$ anyway, she took away the lock-in, she is now taking away band camp, which is the ONLY reason i stayed in marching band for four years. thats a whole long side story that really doesn't matter. anyway (again), band was supposed to be fun, and it was that way because of the activities we did. thought to ponder: why have a band camp picnic the day before bandcamp if they are less than 1000 yards away from each other?
yes, i am an almumus, and it shouldn't bother me, but i am tired of people being screwed over by that woman.

Love,
Steve

I guess she was telling the school board at the begining of the year that she wanted more money. Last time they gave her a REALLY big raise because she said that she'd leave if they didn't. I guess this time they refused her the money.
I heard this at the begining of the year and I may be wrong about her asking for more money once again.
...but it seems she's pissed for a reason...

Why is everyone blind to the fact that money is not the issue here. She could ask for more money and still want to do the day camp thing. The day camp has been in talking since I was a senior so this isn't something new to her.
