Why is it that whenever something disasterous happens everyone jumps on the "ill pray for you" wagon? How many of those who utter this comment, of which to me would be insulting as hell, actually get on their knees and do this? Im betting not many. so if not many do it, why say it? It sounds false. like making a child say im sorry when you know

I never say "I'll prey for you", instead, I say "I'll light a candle for you"
which, I always do....
but that's more of a focusing of energies/sending of good will, and so on...
but that's me.... and I'm odd

Jonathan, a guy i know on a MB will say "ill send good energies your way" and thats cool and all. maybe cause it has to do with him thinking about me and stuff. i dunno its just different

therein lies the difference twixt prayer, and magick.... magick being a focusing of energies, prayer, sort of the same, only you're relying on an "outside source" moreso than oneself.

I'm not really a prayer or energy work person. Well, sort of, but not really. I don't pray, per se. I hope. I don't work magick per se, I try to work towards something, and hope the efforts lead to where I want them to. Sort of a mixture. I wouldn't quite call what I do prayer, but I wouldn't call it magick or energy work either.

I pray for people all the time when I say I will. To me it's settling and it makes me feel better, also whenever I'm trying to make other feel people better I'll draw on stories from my religion to comfort also if there are any I know (I don't know that many) that are applicable.

I think for most people it's trying to give some sort of comfort because they can't really do anything tangible about it.
