At the end of my summer class, I gave a presentation based on an idea in a book I read for that class and gave everyone sunflower seeds. I told them to take care of them and be patient because they take their time to bloom, and you can't just go into that seed and force a flower out of it. It looks so lovely there. It's gray and rainy today -- but it's been hot and dry so we need it. But you look all happy and summery. We grew flowers in third grade, I think, and it made an impression on me for some reason. Nice job using that to get to your students.
