I've never understood the thrust of this sort of question. Given that we choose neither our genetic makeup nor the environment in which we experience childhood, what is the point of asking such a question?
Maybe you can help me with this. Since you've developed a fairly solid opinion on the subject, can you tell me why you found it necessary to consider it -- to the point of arriving at such an opinion?
It seems like a very pertinent question to me! Maybe because I write stories, and so I'm always trying to design a "theory of human personality" so I can write believable characters. It's also the kind of thing my sister and I talk about on long car trips
