The Shelby Legacy - Chapter 1.1: Husband Hunting

Jan 21, 2020 18:29

Welcome to the first chapter of a (hopefully) long-running legacy series! I would like to introduce our founder, Maureen Shelby. No, you're not seeing things - she does look like Idina Menzel. I think Idina has a very unique face and I wanted to see how much it could get passed down in a number of generations. I removed the custom content, barring the lipstick and eyebrows, because I wanted to have more naurally passed down genetics.

On the first die roll, I got a Fortune Sim. Thank goodness for that! No way in hell I could handle a Family Sim on the first generation. I chose the Romance secondary myself because the "Massive Attraction" attribute will make choosing a spouse easier.

And this is the typical legacy "house" the little cash we had brought us. Not enough for a proper dining chair. Poo.

Most of our cash was drained by the lemon tree. I won't get points for it since I'm playing the core rules, but I still like having the family fruit tree anyway. Creates a nice illusion of family tradition.

You prefer watching nature to checking out your new furniture? Can't say I blame you.

And here comes our time to shine, with the paperboy bringing our main source of job providing!

Okay, Maureen, I know you had your heart set on Intellegence, but law enforcement is the closest we got today. Don't give me that stinkeye - the pay of the higher levels will satistfy those Fortune Aspiration wants for ya!

But one of the most important skills is your body skill. We can't afford an excercise machine right now, so you'll have to make do skipping rope.

You got one body point and your needs haven't depleted much. Now let's meet the welcome wagon that just came through.

Malcolm Landgraab IV and Gilbert Jacquet? Bah! Neither are eligible to be spouses.

I don't know when Hang Out became available to other Sims besides teens, but I love it! Builds friendships really quick.

Maureen had the night off, so after the neighbors left, I had her use the bathroom and go to sleep.

Happy 3am wake up call! Sorry you have to eat lunch meat sandwiches left over from last night, but at least leftovers in The Sims 2 last forever! While I find it convienent, it also kinda feels like a cheat to me...

Before she starts her night shift, I decided to have Maureen groove up some extra dough by doing some barista work at Sim Center South.

I don't know about you, but I never had any Sims get any coffee when I worked as a barista.Just seems like a place for a Sim to stand there and daydream as they make money.

Now that Maureen has a fun hundred dollars to her name, she's feeling a little hungry and decides to grab a bite...

...when Abhijeet Deppiesse sits down and starts having a conversation with her. I would really like the first generation's spouse to be a Townie, as I think it's more benificial for a struggling family to have someone already with a job and friends. I have never used Abhijeet before. In fact, of all the townies in the game, I never really see him talked about.

After she's done eating, I have Maureen check him out. One bolt of chemistry, not bad! But let's have Maureen check out her other choices.

She likes Leo Hurt, the Mr. Big. Obviously, I can't move him in. But with two bolts of chemistry, I may still consider him for father material.

They hit it off pretty well. I may consider him.

But then all of a sudden, her bolts with Abhijeet go up from one to two. I have her ask his job and it turns out he's an inventor. That's pretty high up, I'm starting to like him more.

I never go to Bluewater Village all that much, but I decided to go to Hunter's Park to see if any eligible men catch Maureen's fancy.

Hardly anyone showed up - only a few female townies. But Maureen did strike up a nice friendshop with Brandi LeTourneau over a game of chess.

Having low energy in the wee hours of the morn works great for a night job. See ya at 8, Maureen!

Maureen goes to her job a bit on the hungry side, which hopefully won't affect her performance much.

And it didn't. Promotion on the first day!

Um, does this really look like the "house" to rob? And you stole a dining chair Maureen worked so hard for!

After a few more promotions, Maureen has a modest amount of bucks. Instead of upgrading the house, I decided to call the Gypsy Matchmaker to set up a $5,000 date.

She gives me Thomas Andersen, a Downtowniee. Don't think I have ever used him before.

He's a bank robber, another high ranking job! Though that wasn't a smart thing to openly admit to a police officer. Though judging from the three bolt chemistry, I'm guessing she's willing to let that slide.

A great thing about three bolt chemistry is how you can slow dance when you're not even friends yet.

The slow dancing raised the date level to "good" so let's spend some remaining money on a meal, see how that goes.

Taking photos and flirting have raised the level to "Great" but I'm having a hard time getting them to friend level. At least I did until after the picture...

It didn't reach Dream Date, but they did get a 100 daily relationship with crushes on each other. I consider that great progress! I'll consider him marriage material. Maureen will go on a date with Abhijeet tomorrow and see how he stacks up.

Maureen had the day off, so it was easy to get him over. Judging by how she greeted him, I can see how much she likes him. Rawr!

As soon as I initiated the date, the first thing that happened with another smooch and a pink crush heart. Not to mention, an automatic rise to "Good."

Hahaha, the date went to "great" just by them sitting down!

While Maureen and Thomas eventually stopped having romantic wants, Maureen and Abhijeet had them all through the date and they romanced their way up to Dream Date! Maybe they have an advantage because they knew each other longer, but I definitely pick Abhijeet as the future spouse.

Days pass and their relationship is high enough to be in love. It is now the time to marry. Abhijeet brought in $13k and some modest furniture.

With his money, we got a nice five room shack to our name. Welcome to the family, Abhijeet Shelby! Let's see what becomes of this couple next chapter, when the time to start a family is here.
