The one with the arguement I have no friends

May 29, 2005 01:31

My boyfriend told me tonight, without saying it exactly... that I'm a doormat friend. I really had no arguement against it. It just feels that I most of my friendships are one sided... that i'll do things for my friends - but rarely will they do anything for me. Even simple things like calling me, nobody ever does. I'm nice, I hate confrontation, ( Read more... )

I hope that you don't change according to someone else's standards of how you should be.

And I hope that you don't feel like I am not good enough at being your friend.

You know, I don't know you that well, but you seem like a really nice person, and it sucks that people treat you that way. Friendships really should be a two-way thing, and if they're not, maybe you need to have a conversation with some of your friends. Not to accuse them of anything, really, but just to tell them how you feel. If they're really your friends, they'll listen, and care. If not, they're probably not worth it. And if, as you've said in the end of the entry, you have to put the "nice" aside for awhile, more power to you.

Yeah...random comment. I know. I do read your journal on occasion, in case you wondered. ^^;;;;;

you and i aren't exactly the best friends.. so i'm guessing that post wasn't aimed too much at me =P ... and i don't really get to observe you very much so i can neither go against or aggree with your boyfriend. i can however speak from my own experiences. i've been in your situation before.. i have ALOT of very needy friends who don't really have alot to give back. alot of times i've noticed they don't give anything back because they don't think i need anything. from what i've seen you and i are both people that others seem to think are some how self sufficient to a point where they have nothing to give. people that seem very complacent with their lives and who seem to always have something to do and alot going for them (and you do come accross like that for people that don't read into what u say on lj or myspace) often don't think that they have anything to offer.. as if you don't need anything from them and so you slip their mind. and then other times there are just those pricks who are needy people and who are "vampires" in that ( ... )
