In a nutshell.

Felice Family Christmas(tm) would have been better if not for the chaos.  Now, there's normally some drama created by Aunt G., but it's usually in my direction and no one notices.  This year, because the dates had been moved around so much, her daughters didn't come.  We were all disapointed, but sometimes these things happen.  During our ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry that your Aunt treated you so badly. I hope for your sake, no one takes her up on her suggestion to have Christmas at her house next year.

Gatherings with family can be fun. My Aunt usually gets blasted and then hostile at everyone and my dad often has tantrums that lead to him walking out and not eating Christmas dinner.

I hope the rest of your holiday is peaceful.

Thank you. I'm sure the rest of the holiday will be a dream, with only the usual unsettled feelings of lonliness that I can't shake during any holiday. I'm just lucky that the rest of the family have such good hearts, and that Uncle P. and Aunt D. treat me like I'm their own.

And I'm glad that so many in my family smoke, because it gives all of us excuses to take our drinks and bail for outside!

G is a miserable human being, and this has always been true. I'm sorry that you ever need to interact with her.

Remember that you have family who love you and who chose you and who do not think that you are a poor anything, but that you enrich our lives.

I know. And she's the only one who has ever treated me that way. I'm sad for her that she's so miserable, but I know that in the end she has to live with herself. If I only have to interact with her once a year, that's more than enough for me!

I'm sorry that woman chose to take her misery out on you. You have people who love you; it's too bad she'd rather be nasty.

She didn't have an easy life, either, but that's not my fault. She takes it out on me because I'm an easy target without my dad around to defend me. Either way, I've made a family of people who care about me no matter what, and I'm loved by people who would never dream of hurting me in that way. I think I come up as the winner in the end.

*hug* from afar.

I look forward to the day that you can actually tell these people to take a hike.
