Having been raised atheist--at the most sentimental, agnostic--I still maintain my stand all those new pop atheism books and zealous scientistic authors are full of shit. Have you heard of the argument that it is atheists, above all, who have the most faith?
I think I heard a variant of that argument, but found it really silly, on par with "atheism is a religion by definition."
I see pop atheist writers as not adding anything new to the discussion in a not particularly good way. Too many people following Dawkins' lead, which always ends up, "Oh man, religious people, OH MAN!" Which is weird considering Michael Shermer used to be a creationist--you'd think the people who changed their views would have some more sympathy.

I know we don't talk as often these days, but you know I'm here for you if you need a ramblefest to help sort things out. I probably can't offer much good advice on this, but I can definitely listen. Converting to anything at all is huge, in my book. Luv ya.
