You usually make that announcement with an entry visible to everyone, and then go with the locked entries.

Is there a way you can set it so that's the default?

Cause I find it annoying to have to keep choosing it.

If you download a client it might have a default setting. I use one because I'm lazy, its called Semagic I'm not sure about links but I'm sure you could find it around LJ somewhere.. but anyway, if one's Friends Only, the next entries you write will be, to, unless you change it again.

and Tim - I agree with Matt, whats the point of allowing anonymous comments if its Friends Only? =P
