I happen to be commenting from a college dorm room at the moment (I'm at a symposium), surrounding by young people getting ready to start college next month so I can completely relate to the environment, to the white ceiling (no popcorn), white walls, white floor (!), and most of all to Chad's ambivalence about the journey he's about to embark upon. Fortunately for him (and us) he has Ryan to look after him. ;)
Oh, this was fun. I got a kick out of Chad's post high school panic attacks.
He paused for a second, replaying Chad’s words in his head. “Wait, you miss Darbus?” LOL That's when you know that Chad is taking leaving high school too seriously.
I also love the idea of Ryan with Chad's "crazy relatives," playing with Chad's sister and eating pie and getting his cheeks pinched. Being invted implies such a level of acceptance. It makes me happy.

“Yes, master,” Chad laughed at their inside joke, getting up from their spot on the floor.
