Wow, November already...

It's been a busy few weeks. Work has been frustrating and totally crazy at times, but at least creatively fulfilling in some form or another. The Fall collection has been well received and I have a few shoes that are being shown to editors for possible magazine placement, which is exciting

9 guests (11 including us) which meant I had to run to Crate & Barrel on the way home from work one day to get another place setting as we only had 10 of everything

Talk about lifestyle differences - I'm baffled. Does this mean a) it was that important to have another place setting of dishes that match or b) there really isn't another half set of dishes (or several) in a box in the back cupboard somewhere? (I understand space is at a premium in NYC but really... ?)

(I think we could probably serve close to 20, if we combined all the mismatched partial sets of dishes and flatware around this house. And if half of them sat in the living room, on the floor, because I think the lawn chairs and folding church-basement chairs take us to about 12 seats, max... A good thing we are big nerds and don't actually know that many people.)

More B than anything else.. after we received all of the place settings as our wedding gifts last year we gave our old mismatched dishes to my brother and to charity. We simply don't have enough cabinet space to keep that stuff around (especially considering we never would have expected to have a dinner party with more than 10 people anyway).

We did live with the mismatched placemats though..
