Your post did make sense, to me at least. You brought up a good social problem, and could have easily done much more with the conflicting issues we all face, but overall it was one of those posts that made me think. I don't think you needed to wrap up the post because it puts out so many personal views that to try and wrap it up and be all inclusive would be very difficult. And as for asking questions... it's normal to do so, healthy, and I think it's a great quality in a guy ; )

Depends on your position in time. You've experienced 21 years of life, 51 for me. The issues you raised have appeared at least three times during my life, then flip-flopped 180 degrees to the opposite direction. American society rides waves of crass self-absorption then switches to introspection and caring. History says we've been like this all along. If you hang around long enough, you'll get to see the switch. :)
