because i have an impossible time finding music in 3/4 time i can waltz to, here's the latest listing i have compiled, preserved for posterity. Apparently even the world wide web has no listing of popular 3/4 music - go figure. I thought the web had everything

Someday we'll tango again.
And I will pay money to see you waltz to Marilyn Manson.

Tanya and I want to learn tango, but i havent seen anyone in Ptbo that teaches it anymore, so we are kind of stumped for the moment. Maybe a workshop in T.O. or something, unless another "class connections"-like community thing pops up again.
That's where we learned to Viennese waltz, from a workshop in toronto, but it'll be a while before im good enough (or immune to dizziness enough) that i can dance to that Manson song. Its actually perfect in tempo for Viennese, but i think i'll have to work up to that speed. I must admit, it'll be pretty cool though.

Do you like the Watchmen? They do a number of songs in 3/4. Boneyard Tree is a really good one.
Alternatively, there are a large number of songs in either 6/4 or 6/8 that play like 3/4 or can be subdivided into it.
Will these time signatures fit your waltz scheme, or is a 6/x time signature a different dance?

ONE two three or
one TWO three or
one two THREE or any combination thereof, and still be in 3/4 time. For instance, someone looking for a ONE two three beat might not find Boneyard Tree by the Watchmen cause it goes one two THREE.
You can also have syncopation and polyrhythms to throw you off, as well, or songs like Rosetta Stoned where the time signature's in something that's not 3/4 but the snare is playing it anyway, at least in the bridge :P
For instance, it would be:
one TWO three four ONE two three FOUR one two THREE four etc so that the accent is every 3 beats in a count of four. Dance to THAT :P

polyrhythms and syncopations that throw you off, will very likely throw you off the beat(duh), so they suck for dancing. Putting the emphasis on the wrong note is probably also bad, but i'd have to hear an example to make sure. Same with 6/8 and 6/4 - i really dont know. 6/8, if im thinking about it correctly, would go ONE 2 3 4 5 6, ONE 2 3 4 5 6, yes? which might work, but not well. i dont even know how you'd do 6/4.
T.<----not a musician.
