The island people are in desperate need of supplies of food and medicine, but all ships who attempt the cross have been wrecked and now all are reluctant to try the treacherous journey.

I really liked the twist here being that the desire used against the captain was simply the need to successfully complete her mission. That is the simplest and wiliest of all!

I'm glad she succeeded, though. And that the solution was the only one no-one had ever tried before-- acknowledging and appealing to the sirens instead of resisting them.

You know, if I were a siren and these boats were coming at me and no one bothered to tell me why they were steering huge ships right into my home, I might also want to lead them to crash into rocks. Glad everything worked out in the end. I really enjoyed how as you go through the story, I had that dawning sense of dread because I could tell the captain had overlooked something and then we find out it's her desire to help that gets them in trouble. Well done.

Another masterful twist on greek mythology... I really love what you've done here, I love the character's choice and the strong moral lessons.
