I really feel like some things are starting to come together now, so I am ready to share the beginnings of our planning with the world!
(I apologize if the pictures are too big and I will fix them immediately if someone lets me know-- I reduced them a gagillion times already, but they still look like they could be too big...)
First, we finally have an actual place to get married! We had to petition the park district board, but last night they had their meeting and granted us permission to use the band shell! Even better, they require us to rent the shelter house as well (so there will be no space conflicts) which is great because it is an automatic plan B location.
The actual band shell:
The shelter house (and sunset-- important to the photographers)
Then, we have a place to have the reception at... the castle at the university!
This is the ballroom-- it was set up for parent orientation, so it will look quite a bit different. The best part about this room-- it's actually a 2 day rental, which means it's ours to use for set up all day the day before!
I love the stairs when you walk in... sheer awesomeness.
We are pretty sure we have a photographer... www.extantstudios.com. They do some pretty awesome stuff with their photography, so even though it is pricey (2500) we feel like we are getting our money's worth.
We also have decided on a cake lady; I just have to go in and actually reserve the cake and date. She's a local cake baker.
I found my dress. It's an Oleg Cassini from DB.
In specific, this one... We are going to have a brass quintet for the music during the ceremony-- my FH has musician tendencies and one of his friends (who is a professional trombonist) is getting a group together for us. During the reception we are going the Ipod route. FH is in charge of all things musical and the boys wear. (He also has already decided to go with Men's Wearhouse for their outfits.)
Our caterer is the one for the university-- it's part of the contract with the castle. They seem to be super expensive, but I have a meeting with her on the 15th, so that will be squared away by then.
I am so glad all of this has come together so quickly! I know I have a long way to go yet, but to have the big things out of the way is really great since school is starting again soon!
Bridal Show is Sunday... we are mostly going just for fun! :)
