SSI is a joke sbilokonsky July 26 2007, 00:05:19 UTC
i think they need to be more educated on these disorders.
i am not under SSI currently, but was thinking about going on it when i am in the states. i think i will be denied due to my husband can take care of me...blah blah..
i am disabled just like you..SSI does not care if you can not get out of bed...they dont care that you get sick, basically walking out the door..they dont care that everyday is a struggle and that YOU always wear your happy face, so people dont see how much you really suffer...

sorry got on a rant...

everybody in existence except those who have it and those who love the people who have it, needs to be re educated about these illnesses. they need to erase their brains of anything related and RELEARN it in a new way. Because people have believed it to be fake for so long, just because research comes out saying that it ISN'T fake, isn't going to change peoples minds. It's still lazy woman's disease to them.

Argh. Sorry for my rant.

Definitely appealing. F those f'ers. :D

Contact Binder & Binder. They ARE really good and unless you get SSI you don't have to pay them a thing. I tried for SSDI got turned down initially and B&B filed an appeal. As it turned out, when time came for the hearing, I had no case because I'd been working during the time period I'd claimed, ergo, I COULD work.

Some (ie the Govt) might think that getting through an 8 hour work day on 8 prescription drugs and copious quantities of caffeine, only to collapse into bed once one gets home and spend most of the weekend sleeping is living. I don't.

But yeah, try Binder & Binder. The commercials are true. :)

There are two advertisements I see about SSI Lawyers on tv. Other than Binder & binder, it's some dude in Spokane named Gary Penar. They were not very helpful. I told them I was 23 with Fibro and Lupus, and he basically acted like it was next to impossible for me to get it. Looks like binder and binder it is!

How many times have you been denied? The SSA almost always denies the first time, to weed out the idiots who are trying to soak the system.. I got denied twice.

*hugs* Good luck..

Exactly. In fact, many people can expect to get denied two or three times. Often they won't get it until they get a face-to-face with a judge. My mom has seen this plenty of times with her seriously mentally and physically disabled clients that have to live in a group home. The bureaucrats like to make it difficult to make people give up-don't let them get you down!

I'm totally hiring a lawyer. It will help take some of the stress and pressure off of myself. I feel so anxious filling out those forms. I don't know what to say or what to do, and I often forget stuff. Like I get really really really light headed, almost to the point of fainting, whenever I stand up. Sometimes a bad throbbing headache comes along with it. I always forget to write that down, because I've been dealin with it so long, I just don't think about it. It's just getting really bad lately.

Like 5 times. Thanks for the good luck. :)

I talked to a lawyer, whose response when I told them I had fibro and Lupus and was 23, wasn't positive. He was kind of a dick.

I've been applying for like five years and have been denied more times than I ermember now. I'm calling Binder & Binder. They take 25% but I figure it's worth it if I finally get some sort of help.

Thanks for your support. :)
