POSTER UPDATE: 4 roughs

Dec 08, 2005 09:21

Here's the first four 'drafts' of the poster. The first two don't really count, I was just throwing pictures together to get some ideas started. The one I'm really liking is the 3rd... but there's something missing from it. I can't quite pinpoint it. And then the 4th is just a teaser I threw together because the 3rd one took so long.

I dunno, 1 and 4 look pretty damn good!
1 I guess I can tell you didn't do much to the images so I don't know if that would count against you, but I think it's a good design that really hints at what is going on.
4 is damn intriguing and damn good. And nothing does drama, tension, tragedy and fear like black and white!!
But if you still really like 3 I see a couple possible changes- there are 4 people and that's a lot. And they are all different sizes, but not significantly. It seems unclear what is the most important thing in the poster.
I like the tagline in the 3rd one, with the different color on the last one, but that shadow thing is really distracting.
Oh and finally, the words "Silent Hill" are so dramatic in the second one, that I would like to see that again.
Ok, hope that helps!

I was worried the 3rd one looked too "Photoshoppy". Good points. I do like the brick effect on the lettering though, so maybe I can take all the images out of it and see if a different combination would look less busy and make more sense.

As for the 1st one, I'll tweak it a bit; try to get the top and bottom to blend a little better and see what happens.

As for the 4th, sounds like simplistic is the way to go. Thanks!! :)

the last one is the best. i dig the simplicity, but i dont know if the judges would. i like the ash gray too. the 3rd one looks too 'floating heads' you were complaining about earlier, but i really like the image of the woman holding the lighter up. id try and fit that in somehow.

Thanks. Yeah, the simplicity might be a problem, because, based on past contests like this that I've seen, there's always somebody with some mad Photoshop skills who comes up with some gritty, tripped-out poster that has such a badass factor that it crushes something like mine in the votes.

Let's just say #4 survives Round One. I'm hoping to come up with something that mixes the design quality of 4 with the kind of disturbing, raw quality that I was going for with 3.

Man, I may be overthinking the hell out of this...

i agree. i like 4, and the image in 3. maybe you could have a different image in the bottom of 3, like instead of the people something else.

they all look great though

the last one is my favorite! it's got that hitchcock feel...and it leaves much to the imagination! i also like the first two. did we discuss this already or was i just high on nyquil?
