I don't know where to start on this post. 1. Yeah, you'll post again soon enough. MWAHAHAHA 2. My image of you giggling is hilarious 3. WTF Ripple? Really it was not THAT bad when we were there. I don't remember anyone ever getting fucking STABBED...or at least not in the school. erm... 4. THIRTY NINE TEACHERS?! I can't believe that. Seriously what is happening to BRHS. I think we seriously were in IPS at the end of a golden age. No joke. i mean...we all came out normal...kinda 5. Finally-if only any of us knew what we wanted to do with life. Excuse me now I need to go have a conniption over the idea of one more year at Loyola Chicago. Peaces! Lena (I just got out of a hard ass test and I've had too much caffeeeeeeeeeiiiiiinnnnneeeeee because Thomas' dumb ass called at TWO AM LAST NIGHT!)
1. You're right. I will. 2. My image of you thinking that the image of me giggling is hilarious is mildly amusing to me. 3. The worst things I remember from Ripple are (a) that racist fat kid getting hit in the back of head with a lock, (b) those two girls who fought in gym, when one of them was having a seizure, the other started kicking her in the face, and (c)... I don't remember. Some other fights, I guess? 4. Yep. I thought it was 39 teachers across all of IPS high schools, but nope. It's 39 from Broad Ripple ALONE. My memory may be wrong, but 39 sounds like almost 75% of the faculty. Jeez-us Christ. 5. Conniption. I love that word. "A fit of violent emotion". Hells yeah. At least YOU'RE in Vienna.
keep the LJ frenzy up, i enjoy it. i really dont think broad ripple was ever good, we just sort of remember it as not being as bad. but are you serious about no sports? like getting rid of everything??
also, i feel like even the people the 'succeeded' at BR are still fucked, b/c everyone is more or less floating in limbo.
as i wont be able to attend, let me know how the screening of your movie goes.
The sports programs are on their way out. The superintendent is seriously trying to make it so there would be ONE exclusively "Sports-oriented" school - much like how BR is mostly known for the arts and humanities magnets and Tech (I think) is known for it's math and science programs.
"also, i feel like even the people the 'succeeded' at BR are still fucked, b/c everyone is more or less floating in limbo."
Good. Fucking. Call.
And anyway, glad to know somebody's enjoying these. I seem to remember also finding a bit of enjoyment reading some peoples' entries before they DELETED THEIR LJ / STOPPED UPDATING ON DECEMBER 14, 2005. *ahem* *ahem* *cough* *cough* *hack* *spit* Ugh.
Well, I really wouldn't say that things are too different at Ripple, at least no different than they were before (violence-wise)...
The small schools and teacher cuts HAVE fucked shit up. HOWEVER, don't believe all the hype--no math or science teachers were cut, so thank goodness Mr. Kassig is safe. But... every Humanities teacher except Mrs. Young and Mr. Harting were officially cut (and Harting is planning on retiring after next year anyway). So NOW the buzz is that we may not have a Humanities magnet next year because we have no teachers to teach the classes. That, as you know, would make Broad Ripple utterly worthless as a school...
I know you've got Jeremy and I have a lot of freshman and sophomore friends that I'm worried about. There'd be absolutely no reason for them to attend BR next year with so many programs cut. I am glad that I'm finally getting out.
It's a sinking ship and we are trying to hop off before it's too late...

I can't say I'm coming for sure yet, but I'll try to make it.

And if you are able to come, make sure you laugh really loud at everything, just in case, you know... everyone hates it.
