I've talked about this a little, but Shanghai isn't the best place to learn Chinese. From what I can tell, living in a 'second-tier' city (less well known cities in China, which many times, still have a couple million people in them) is the way to go. It's not as though you can't learn Chinese in Shanghai, lots of people do it, but it's harder

Be an expat in Yunnan. Or not, I mean, they do have the AIDS around there.

One thing is for sure though, you have to find a pandar, and tame him and name him Evan, so that the balance of the universe will hold.

Yeah, Yunan does seem pretty sweet. Sweltering, but sweet. The dialects there are as from standard Mandarin as Swedish...but then again, where isn't it? (You know, other than the big Jing)
