My faith in this country has improved, though it's tempered somewhat by prop 8 in California, prop 9 in Flordia, and similar such and sundry elsewhere.

I'm surprised as hell Prop 8 managed to win in California, of all places. I don't know what to say about the people living here anymore.

Everyone has this image of Cali as an ultra-liberal haven. Really, only the unis, big cities, and coastal areas are anything like that. The rest of the state can be pretty red, and with plenty of Mexican immigrants coming in (who tend to be socially conservative Catholics), it's not TOO surprising.
