I'm still at it, trying to finish the roof.

The workshop project rumbles on. The process of putting up the OSB for the roof was complicated by some minor errors in rafter alignment. Some slight repair work in necessary to fill some gaps and a bit of reinforcement is needed on the rafters themselves.

Finished up the last of the work on the walls. It is now a building, except for the roof. That's certainly going to be the trickiest part, and as long as there's no rain in the forecast, I might just wait until my dad can come back down to help me with that part.

With my charged batteries good to go, I fastened the last wall frame in place. Then I slapped up a sheet of plywood, held it with clamps, and nailed it to the studs. It was actually easier to do by myself than I expected. Tomorrow I'll probably take the afternoon off - it's game night and I don't need to be worn out before I go play. Today was a clear triumph in the construction process. Single-handed I cut the top plate and studs for the last wall section and nailed them together - achieving a perfectly square frame on the first go! Dad came down for Easter and helped me work on the workshop some more. We made a run to Home Depot to get the material for the last wall, the roof, and the doorway. The only things I have yet to buy are the paint/primer for the exterior and possibly some roofing nails, if the staples I have for the pneumatic stapler turn out to be less effective ( Read more... )

Next week will probably see the CWA walk out on AT&T. As a member of the former and employee of the latter, I am expected to show solidarity with my organized labor brethren.
