So, my brother comes to get me out of my room today, and here is what he had to show me:
It's just a Chicken Snake, which isn't that bad (especially since I love snakes), except for the fact that this was sneaking up behind it:
So, that cat is Scat or Fatty as we lovingly call her, and she is only one-half of our exterminator squad. I was kind of scared that this two and a half foot snake would eat my cat, so I ordered my brother to kill it. I wanted to play with it first, but he refused. While it's not poisonous, my brother was worried that it would bite me. So, Drew proceeding with trying to chop its head off (a very hard job it seemed, because he kept missing).
I felt pretty bad for the poor thing because it was twitching afterwards, and I thought it was suffering, but Drew assured me that it was only twitching because of severed nerves or something like that. I don't think that he knows what he's talking about, because a few minutes later, I looked out the window, and Scat was after it again. The snake was slithering around and sticking out its tongue, so it was definitely alive.
As Drew went and got the shovel again to put the poor thing out of its misery, I felt really bad for asking him to kill it. It looked so sad and pathetic. And I really wanted to play with it. Finally, the snake was decapitated and really dead. Poor thing. T_T It's still laying in my yard though because Drew wouldn't get rid of it, and both of my cats have been prowling around it and messing with it, and the neighbor's dog has sniffed it once or twice. I think it scared my neighbor though. She came home and saw it before going up the street to get someone to come kill it. It was already dead though. =3 She didn't look very hard...
I still want to play with it, but maybe I'll find another one and let it live this time, because this is the third snake we've seen this summer. The first one was a huge Chicken Snake wrapped around the fence in the backyard, the second was a King Snake that Fatty was playing with, and the third was this one.
This makes me want to go buy another Python from the pet store...
