I didn't hear anything about midnight sales, but I did hear of some stores opening at 5 in the morning, with limited inventories so that people were supposed to line up by 3 in order to get a number (or something like that). And I heard that at least one person had gotten in a store's line by Wednesday!?! (What'd _that_ person have to eat for Thanksgiving?) Personally, I've never understood waiting in line for more than 24 (or even 12) hours for good seats at anticipated concerts or movie releases, thought people nuts for doing so. I understand it even less for this.
