Ike came through here as a wind storm (no rain, just really high winds) and ripped up tons of trees, caused the most power outages I can ever remember us having, etc. We had a "gas shortage" for maybe 2-3 days, and that was in part consumer panic and part simply because gas stations didn't have power. As power was restored to more and more of the city, the "gas shortage" died out, I guess because people felt safe once the lights back. ;) I don't really understand how Charlotte and some other areas in the south are still having issues. I jokingly offered to bring a huge container of gas with us since gas is readily available and dropping (SLOWLY) in price here. Heh.
