Dear God.... this has become an absolute living NIGHTMARE.... my brother and I rushed my Pops to the hospital here Monday morning. He was admitted to ICU with a blood clot in his left leg and in one of his lungs. I'm with dirt, could he legally do this with your father stil living? Is there no way to rectify this?

How is your father doing? Has the blood clot in his heart been resolved? I will keep you and yours in my thoughts, Syd. I've had two blood clots on two different occassions in my left leg and could tell you that he could overcome this.

As to your question, Miami, the clot in Pop's lung and leg are being treated successfully, according to his doctors. The change in Pops is quite amazing compared to the way we found him this past weekend. The plans are to have him moved to a skilled nursing facility immediately upon his release from the hospital.

I absolutely appreciate you keeping us in your thoughts an prayers.

We retained an attorney versed in Elder Law on Tuesday, who drew up both specific powers of attorney covering health care surrogacy and durable powers of attorney in both my and my brother's names, along with a revocation of Tom's POA. Pops signed them in the presence of a notary from the attorney's office yesterday. The thing is, since our step-brother Tom had a POA when Pops entered the hospital Monday, the hospital is not recognizing our POA. Our attorney is working with the hospital's leagal department to change this. The nightmare contines... *shaking head

my jaw is on the keyboard!! Who the HELL do they think they are??? and just explain to me so I fully understand why they took money from your (still alive thank you) Father's account???? Your Father has the onset of Alzheimers so I would be interested in knowing what Step brother did to over rule next of kin (YOU)

As to why they took the money, lillaone, straight from the freakin jackass's mouth... they thought WE were going to steal OUR Pop's money, so they moved it first... funny... we looked through Pop's cancelled checks from 2000 to 2003 (they have removed all the cancelled checks for the last 3 years) and found exactly 6 checks made to us kids, the largest being a $50 check written to our Brother Billy in 2001 marked Merry Christmas... and all checks totalling $280)... we alson uncovered checks made to the step-brothers and sisters totalling $5000 during that time frame.... from everything from checks made in their names from $500 on, including rent checks and doctor's checks on their behalf... Soooooo... WE were trying to steal his money alright... *rolls eyes ( ... )

By the way... as my father laid in his hospital bed last Thursday, with $7000 in his checking account, and $18000 in his money market account, our step-sister MaryAnn cashed yet another $22,000 check...
he now has $500 in his checking and $2000 in his money market account... and he had $198,000 to start with...

Yeah... this has all been in HIS BEST interest... *growls
