1) I either severely bruised or broke two of my toes last night when I tripped rather badly in the bathroom. I'm guessing it's just deeply bruised since I can still wiggle them, but it hurts like mad. Since the treatment for a broken toe is just to tape it to the one next to that, I did so. I know ice would also help, but getting ice to stay on

I write long hand most of the time because I am not by my computer when inspiration strikes. I have notebooks everywhere and I carry a small notebook.
The heat and humidity has been insane around here too. It feels like the tropics and it rains about once an hour.
Crawfish yum. I am so hungry for a good shrimp boil.
Have a good weekend.

Which book of Carolyn's do you have? Seasons of change is amazing. Love that one.

I've never had a shrimp boil before. Do you treat it just like crawfish? I know we've had a few sausage boils lately; it's the same seasonings as a crawfish one but we use sausage as the meat and then add in those little red potatoes, corn, and eggs (my sister's not big on sausage so we throw them in for her). You boil the whole thing until potatoes are fork tender. It's an easy meal you don't have to babysit!
Which book of Carolyn's do you have?I got Seasons of Change. Remember awhile ago she had one of those author's talk on someone's blog? They were having a contest so that one of the commenters would win a free copy. I won. The funny part is that I went over there to support her not to win, but the person running the contest pulled my name. LOL ( ... )

Shrimp boil is basically unpeeled raw shrimp in water with old bay seasoning. It only takes a few minutes to cook and then you put the big bowl in the center of the table everyone digs in and dips the shrimp into melted butter. It's like carnage. All that is left is a butter smear and the shrimp casings. :P I agree with your sis cause I am not a fan of sausage.

If you don't have shaved ice (as who does) chop the ice with a
hammer when it's in the plastic bag.
Well, figure it out,,

Keep those toes taped -- especially if they start turning blue or purple. That's how I once discovered I broke a toe. *HUGS*
I hope you enjoy the book!
Your mom always sounds like such a terrific, take-charge, person.
We're finally experiencing a true end of Spring and I'm loving it, although the tornado in Springfield was only 25 minutes from my town. Creepy!

Something tells me this hurricane season is going to kick our collective butts. :(
The book has been fantastic! I've gotten about 3/4 of the way through. I was right at the point where Jake had met the couple in Connecticut when we lost power last night. (We had a massive storm that knocked the power out for 4 hours.) I plan on finishing it off tomorrow.
Let me tell you, when you killed off Mitch, I spent pages sobbing my eyes out. Dreamspinner ought to send your book out with a package of tissues! :D
Your writing has grown by leaps and bounds. I was really able to feel things with your characters, and, more than once, found myself so sucked in I was about to start yelling at them when I thought they were doing something I thought particularly stupid (like heading off to that club!) or when Andy's mom popped up ( ... )
