Not so much industrious as crazy. Or rather roped into it by a wholly determined mother. XD
It's taken three of us - my, my sister, and I - working about 6 hours a day to even get through half of all those pears, and that's with 5 days worth of work. By the end of the day, we're all tired.
I'll be SO glad when we're done, and I never have to see another pear again! *groans*
Lol. As someone with 3 apple trees I feel for you. Good years mean you work your butt off and the bad years we bitch cause we can't even make a pie. It has only been the last couple of years I have eaten pears. I like the fresh ones not the weird canned pears you buy. Good job getting all that done. Is it in the 100's down your way? My Uncle over by Shreveport says it has been another really miserable hot spell.
Apples are awesome, too. I love me so apple butter! :D
It's been in the 100s here, too, and that's not counting in the humidity. It's just awful! And with little to no rain, the land is just baking. Ugh. I think Mother Nature's getting even for the long "winter" we had.
As someone whose parents used to live in a house with an apple tree, a plum tree and a peach tree and a nectarine tree, I can so sympathise with you. We kids used to get SO sick of helping Mum with it all.
And the crockpot pear butter is here. We ended up adding sugar to this one -- white and brown to get the taste right. the crockpot didn't seem to cook the pears through though. We ended up having to let it cool and then starting it fresh the next day. First, we blended it up in the food processors, then we finished cooking it in a pot in the stove
