"But more important than the horse race at this stage are the attitudes that inform it. This is why I still think a run off election would be soooooooo much better than the seperate party primaries are. Such bullshit. But much as I hate to do it I don't feel like I can afford not to go to the poles and place my "not bush" vote next to Kerry's name on the ticket. I might write him a letter announcing that even though I voted for him he's not my candidate if he manages to get himself elected. You still voting third party this time around?

It is an especially bad strategy considering that Bush has the advantage of being the incumbent. At the same time, now that the Dems have royally screwed the liberals, we have to pick up the pieces and do the best with the choices presented. As a voter, I resent their choice. At the same time, Kerry was the most popular choice to emerge from the primaries. I don't know that they had much of a choice. So then, the problem is why the Democrats haven't been willing to push Kerry as more than just the alternative- why not put his views and strengths out there up front? The obvious answer seems to be that his views were blase and his strengths mediocre. All the same, when it comes to the election, I will cast my vote for Kerry because the only person I would vote for out of true conviction is Kucinich, and he's out. Let's not forget that real ( ... )
