Jackson Mac Low (1922-2004)

I realize most of you don't know who Jackson Mac Low is, but for me this is horrible news. Jackson was, to me, one of the most important writers in these past 50 years. Amazing, amazing work, and a loss that will definitely be felt.

(I don't know the details, and it is very unlikely that they will be made public. I assume natural causes.)

As you know, I'm about as conceptual as a rock. But I remember late one night my girlfriend and I were looking at stuff on the internet and we stumbled across "Young Turtle Assymetries." For the first minute or two it seems like some kind of joke and you wonder when the punchline is coming. But we kept listening and there came a moment when the performance just took over. We listened in silence for the full ten minutes and afterward we simply couldn't think of anything to say about it. It didn't require a response, the way so much poetry does.
