Yeah, I saw it on the Buffalo Poetics List. Ron has, of course, already blogged about it, which actually cleared something up for me: Ron writes that kari didn't want anyone to use any gendered pronous regarding anyone. A bio that I saw a few years ago made me think that kari identified with a gender-neutral pronoun, but every time that I've seen kari referred to "she" has been used.

This upsets me for a few reasons. 1.When people who knew kari referred to kari as "she," it suggests to those who didn't know kari that "she" was the correct pronoun to use. 2.This precedent is especially shitty now, as any mention of kari's death is inevitably going to use a pronoun that would have upset kari, which seems like a horrible thing to do to a person who has passed away.

Yeah, I agree. And it's funny, I read Silliman's post right after reading yours, and immediately felt shitty about that.

Maybe you knew this already, but you can now download what would have been kari's new book here.
