It was 11:15pm when Sungmin returned home.

Leeteuk opened his eyes as he heard him arrive, but didn't move. He stayed completely still as the younger quietly pushed open the door, crossed to the bathroom and showered quickly, returning in his underwear and sliding into the bed.

"In bed so early?" he whispered upon seeing the other was awake.

"Back so late?" Leeteuk retorted, turning on his side to look at him.

Sungmin nodded sleepily, wiggling down into the mattress, hands curled loosely in front of his chest as he returned Leeteuk's gaze. "I'm sorry."

Leeteuk just blinked, letting the younger knew he was going to have to work harder. Sungmin sighed inwardly, reaching over to wrap his hand around Leeteuk's still and unresponsive fingers. He shifted closer, pressing their noses together and pulling their clasped hands to his chest. Leeteuk's eyes didn't leave his for a moment, daring him to speak, daring him to make excuses once again, daring him to try and make things better with more lies.

Sungmin closed his eyes. The room was dim, lit only by the moonlight shining through the open curtains, but it was enough for him to see the dare and accusation so he took a moment to calm down in the darkness behind his eyelids.

Leeteuk hadn't moved an inch when he opened his eyes again. One blink and the steady warmth of his breath on his chin were the only things that confirmed to Sungmin the elder hadn't died or turned to stone or something.

He took the liberty of claiming one short kiss before getting back out of bed, flicking the curtains shut and submerging the room in thick shades of grey. He stood by the window for a long moment, hands curled around the edge of the drapes, before turning back to the bed and surveying the still, shadowy figure. He crawled over the mattress, tucking himself into Leeteuk's arms; forcing him into an embrace.

"It's only you," he said simply, pressing kisses to Leeteuk's neck and jaw. "I promise, Teukie, for everything we have or had, everything we shared or claimed, it's only you."

He was glad he couldn't see the expression that came with the reply. "Then why don't I mean more to you?"

"Than what?"

"Than this."

Sungmin sat up and rolled Leeteuk onto his back so he could straddle him. "Teukie," he whispered, laying a finger across the other's lips when he tried to interrupt. "Teukie. I love you. More than you will ever know, I swear. I… need you. I need you to be here for me, I need you to take care of me and I need you to always trust me and believe that you are my one and only."

"You-"

Sungmin touched his lips again, cutting off the angry response. "I wish I could be there for you more. I wish I could get home at a normal hour and have dinner with you like we used to before… all this started…"

"Before all what started?" Leeteuk demanded, shoving Sungmin's hand away.

"You don't understand, Teuk-"

"Then explain it to me!" Leeteuk sat up and caught Sungmin's wrists to keep them off his body. "Explain it so I do understand, because I can't deal with not knowing like this!"

Sungmin bit his lip and sighed. "I hate hiding things from you," he whispered sadly.

"Then don't!"

"I have to, that's the point! If I were to tell you why I can't tell you, it would defeat the whole purpose of not telling you!" Sungmin could feel the tears pricking at his eyes, glad that Leeteuk couldn't see them. "Please, Teukie… believe me when I say I wouldn't lie to you, that if I could, I would tell you in a heartbeat."

"Keeping things from me is a type of lying, Sungmin."

Sungmin just kissed him in response, freeing his wrist and holding Leeteuk's face captive instead. He pried the other's lips apart with his tongue and they both knew that Leeteuk wasn't going to stop him from doing whatever he wanted.

"I love you, Leeteuk," he whispered as he broke the kiss to tug the elder's shirt off. "There's no-one else. I've been staying out late but… that… is not it."

"Stop talking." Leeteuk grabbed his waist and pulled him down onto him, hooking one leg around his hips and pressing their bodies flush together. Sungmin did as he was told, contenting himself with kisses and caresses on and from the man he loved like no other.

He was glad he couldn't see Leeteuk's face as he freed him from his clothes and littered his bared body with kisses.

He was glad Leeteuk couldn't see his face as he thrust in and made love to him with a passion so desperate he scared himself.

He made sure to make Leeteuk feel more amazing than ever before so he wouldn't have to hear any more pain or betrayal in his beautiful, addictive voice. The elder buried his face in Sungmin's neck when Sungmin's noises started to join his own in their harmony, clutching tightly to him and gasping into his skin. Sungmin bit his lip and felt his heart melt when Leeteuk started uttering his name; in whispers, then moans, then screams, until he was releasing himself all over them both and spurring Sungmin to his own completion.

Leeteuk fell away afterwards and Sungmin rolled to his own side of the bed, closing his eyes as he caught his breath. Mostly, they would be perfectly content to just roll over and sleep, but he could tell from Leeteuk's unusually thick silence that tonight would have to be different. He turned onto his side and reached out, fingers landing on Leeteuk's clammy chest.

"Sungmin…" the whisper emerged from the blackness, small and… concerned? No… scared. Sungmin bit his lip again and shifted closer, feeling the heat radiate from his lover's body. He knew the elder was owed an explanation, and also knew that such an explanation could be his death.

"The moment I'm allowed to tell you…" …if ever… "…I will, Teukie," he promised, weaving his fingers with Leeteuk's. "I don't like this any more than you do, believe me."

Leeteuk said nothing but squeezed his hand lightly, showing that he was still awake.

"I… I want this to be a normal relationship… a good one, honest, trusting… I can… feel you slipping away, day by day, and it scares me, Leeteuk."

"But who can you blame but yourself, Sungmin?"

"Ah, Teukie," Sungmin chuckled sadly. "But I couldn't tell you that either."

"It's not good enough, Min."

"I know… it's not, really not, but it's all I have." Sungmin pleaded and moved even closer, pressing himself to Leeteuk and tucking his head under his chin.

"Can you at least tell me when it will be over?"

Sungmin could only shake his head miserably. "I'm sorry." He could sense Leeteuk's frustration, dissatisfaction and anger. He squeezed him tighter and hated his voice for cracking. "I'm so sorry."

Leeteuk rested his hands on the younger's back, running the knuckles of one up and down his spine. "Just go to sleep."

* * *

Leeteuk woke up many mornings wondering why he had to do so alone. He would stare into his closet as he got dressed, wondering if it would really be worth it to just pack everything up and leave. He would return home at 7:00pm every night and without fail call Sungmin to see if he needed to cook or order for two. Every night he would end up eating alone.

Every night he would sit at his desk and wonder why he still loved Sungmin with all his crumbling heart. And every night Sungmin would return home late and hold him and beg him to stay, and promise to tell him everything as soon as he could.

"Teukie!" Sungmin cried, bounding into the apartment at 11:30. Leeteuk looked up from his work with dead eyes which lightened slightly as he wondered what his boyfriend was so excited about.

Sungmin hurried over to the desk, throwing his bag carelessly down on the coffee table and leapt onto it, kneeling on it and grabbing Leeteuk's face to kiss him. "Guess what?" he breathed against his lips, grinning.

"What?" Leeteuk asked hopefully.

Sungmin giggled. "I get the whole weekend off. Tomorrow and Sunday belong to us!"

Leeteuk froze, eyes widening. "Se- seriously?"

"Yes," Sungmin whispered, lids fluttering as he breathily kissed him again and again, speaking between them. "Completely… and… utterly… ours… mmm,"

Leeteuk shoved his papers aside and crawled onto the desktop as well, wrapping his arms around the younger's face and pulling him flush against his body as arms snaked around his neck. "Well then," he murmured, feeling happier than he had in months, "Since we… don't… unghhh… have to… get up early tomorrow…" his lips never quite left Sungmin's as his words tried to interrupt, "We should…"

Sungmin chuckled and scooted backwards, pulling him over the desk. "My thoughts exactly," he purred, contact slipping down to just their fingers as they ran for the bedroom.

Leeteuk couldn't remember when he had last enjoyed sex this much. He didn't have to pretend it was a type of plea, a way for Sungmin to beg him to stay, it wasn't weighted down with the fear and sadness it had been for far too long. Sungmin loved the smile Leeteuk couldn't suppress as he threw his head back, moaning as Sungmin pushed his fingers in and stroked him (both inside and out) until he was a helpless, boneless heap below him.

"S-Sungmin," Leeteuk gasped, groaning and whimpering at what Sungmin's fingers were doing to his insides and his cock. "Sungmin-ah…"

"Hmm?" Sungmin leant forward and pressed his lips to Leeteuk's jaw.

"D-don't… fuck me…"

Sungmin blinked and pulled his head back. "What?"

Leeteuk raised his fingers to Sungmin's cheek, blushing, but kept their eyes locked as he spoke. "Don't fuck me… make love to me instead…"

It was cheesy, but Sungmin loved it. There hadn't been enough time for romance as they struggled to not fight. He removed his hands from between Leeteuk's legs and grabbed his hips, mashing their lips together as he slowly slid inside. He tried to go slow and sensual, but he struggled, and was relieved when the equally hungry Leeteuk demanded harder.

Sungmin nipped and sucked at the elder's neck, marking him afresh, something he had felt too guilty to do before. He hummed in satisfaction hearing Leeteuk gasp and groan with each thrust. He pulled out to cum, spurting it over Leeteuk's back, then used his mouth to help Leeteuk to the end.

They allowed themselves seven minutes to recover, then their tongues were back in each others' mouths, and their legs were tangled to the point where they didn't even care whose were whose. And this time it was Sungmin going down on Leeteuk, riding him like there was no tomorrow.

Their problems were not solved, in fact, as Sungmin knew, far from it, but for two days they forgot and just let themselves enjoy the love they'd once had all the time.

* * *

It was late Sunday afternoon and Sungmin had fallen asleep on the couch, Leeteuk's lying crossways with his head in his lap. He smiled affectionately up at the younger's peaceful, sleeping features and carefully sat up, trying not to disturb him. He kissed his cheek lightly, stretched out his stiff limbs and caught sight of Sungmin's bag on the table, where it hadn't been moved since Friday night.

Leeteuk stood, picked it up and carried it to Sungmin's desk, intending to unpack it for him. It was a bit heavier than he expected, definitely heavier than the things he himself took to work, and he frowned as he set it down on the desk and unzipped the opening. Normal things came out of it first; a jumper, a discarded tie, a pencilcase, a calculator, several files and folders and notepads. Nothing that would explain the weight. Leeteuk reached down to the bottom of the bag, finding two more items. One was a box, heavy, but Leeteuk placed it on the desk without opening it. The second…

Leeteuk stiffened as he saw the item in his hands, felt the cold of the metal on his fingers. His mind whirled with a thousand different thoughts but he couldn't interpret any of them. What… this… how… why…? Why was this in Sungmin's bag? Did he own it? Was it even real?

Leeteuk hesitantly reached for the box and opened it, one glance at the neatly-packed bullets confirming that yes, the gun was real. A slight whimper escaped his lips and he wasn't even sure why.

"Teukie?" Sungmin's voice was low and dry from sleep. The gun fell from Leeteuk's fingers and he whirled to face the couch, eyes wide.

Sungmin rubbed his face and blinked, eyes focusing on his boyfriend's expression. His own expression morphed from slumber to confusion to dawning comprehension, and he paled. "T-Teukie?"

If Sungmin had remained looking confused, Leeteuk might have been able to deal with it. As it was, with Sungmin white and scared and holding an expression of slowly building horror, he knew that heknew what he'd found in the bag.

His lips moved but no sound came out, which was sort of a good thing because his brain was refusing to think of anything to say.

Sungmin stood, making his way to Leeteuk and the desk on trembling legs. Leeteuk swallowed and shrank back. "I… I was just… unpacking it…" he whispered, reaching behind himself to curl his fingers around the weapon.

Sungmin held out a hand, gaze fixed on Leeteuk's face but not his eyes. "Gihhhgh-" his voice cracked and he cleared his throat. "Give me the gun, Leeteuk."

Leeteuk shook his head, taking a step backwards and clutching said weapon to his chest. He knew he was panicking, breathing coming too shallow and too fast to be of any benefit. Sungmin reached for the desk and grabbed the jumper Leeteuk had removed from the bag. "Leeteuk… it's not loaded… just give it to me, please…"

Leeteuk kept shaking his head, eyes filling with tears. Sungmin fiddled with the jumper and his hand emerged with a small dagger. Leeteuk whimpered and took several stumbling steps back, eyes fixed on it in terror.

But Sungmin didn't advance on him or even wrap his fingers around the handle. The knife rested on one palm and he sighed, looking down at it sadly. "Teukie… I… I am a…"

Leeteuk bit his lip, the first of the tears falling. Concealed weapons… why did, of all people, Sungminhave concealed weapons? What was he doing when he stayed out late? His heart was racing and he could feel himself trembling. He was suddenly scared, more scared than he had ever been in his life, caught with an empty gun between a wall and a man with a knife.

He suddenly realized he was fingerprinting the automatic and he jerked his hands away from it, sending it clattering to the floor. He kept his face lowered, eyes fixed on Sungmin's bare feet.

Sungmin raised his eyes from the dagger and his lips parted in shock at Leeteuk's posture, curled into himself and looking terrified.

Terrified… of him? He bent down to peer at Leeteuk's face and saw the tears trickling down his cheeks. He saw the barely restrained panic there and his heart cracked. He took a hesitant step forward, wanting nothing more than to forget he ever saw that expression to hold Leeteuk until the tears evaporated and everything went back to how it had been for the last two perfect days.

He forgot the knife was still in his hand.

Leeteuk bolted and Sungmin could do nothing but stare at the swinging door out which his betrayed lover had fled.
