Fanime was a lot of fun! I'm already looking forward to next year.
Friday
I was having a little trouble sleeping the night before. I had gone to bed around 10pm, but I think I actually got to sleep around 1am. I guess frantically working to finish my Kaido costume didn't wear me out enough. Anyway,
samiamwork picked me up at 9:30 in the morning, we stopped at
ensuing's house to pick up
5pkbc's comic books, and we were off to Fanime. We got there around 10:30ish to look around and then check into our hotel rooms. I wore my costume for a while, which was fun when I walked by a couple girls, and one said to the other, "Look, it's Kaido! That just made my day." Later we met up with the other people in our group. It was fun to see all the familiar faces again. We went to the swap meet, where I scored the second CCS movie, Yotsuba 3 for only $5, Marble Madness for Game Boy, and Namco Collection for N64.
Saturday
I think I woke up around 5ish, but then went back to bed and woke up closer to 9. I got back into costume and went to visit 5pkbc's booth, where I bought a comic book and one of
ensuing's marker pictures. Then I went to the Dealer Room. After Saturday, I had already spent over 3/4 of my money. At 3:30 I went over to the Prince of Tennis gathering, where there was another Kaido, Inui, Tezuka, and some people from Hyotei. I was really hoping
Pikminlink would stop by, but I didn't even see her once during the con (besides at the Masquerade). The whole group went to the nearby Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya and to the grocery store across the street. I'm a bit of a picky eater and don't like to try new things (that and I was already low on money), so I didn't buy anything at the grocery store. Instead I made rice in our hotel room, which is okay because rice is the best food ever.
Sunday
Instead of going strait to the Dealer Room, today was spent watching anime in the video rooms and playing games in the e-gaming room. I was a little disappointed by the selection of arcade games this year, though the addition of console games was smart. That way I wouldn't have to spend anything to play, plus the games on the consoles were better. I tried to avoid the literally 20 minute waiting time for Super Smash Bros Melee and stuck with Naruto GTN 3 and 4, Mario Kart: Double Dash, and Guitar Heros. I was going to take pictures at the CLAMP gathering, but the few people who showed up decided to walk around the con to find more people dressed as CLAMP characters, and I didn't want to stick around. At 5:30pm I went to stand in line to get into the Masquerade. I guess the rest of the group arrived after me, because I looked but didn't see them in line. I left to go back to the e-gaming room at 10pm, then back to the room to get some sleep. I thought about doing some kareoke, but after last year, I realized it wasn't quite as fun if my friends weren't around.
Monday
If only Fanime could go on forever! Some of the group left early, and the rest of us went out to Pizza My Heart for lunch, like we did last year. Then one last stop in the Dealer Room, one at the e-gaming room, and it was time to leave. I can't wait for next year!
