Author’s notes: My entry for club sion’s contest ~ Let’s play with 5 and 23. I underline the number 5 and 23.
Okay, his birthday was going to be in two days time. And right now, Takaba Akihito, the photographer of weekly editions was wondering on what he should do on his special day. 5 May, in this date he was going to turn 23. He expected to spend his birthday with his possessive, dangerous, leader of underworld lover, Asami Ryuuichi. Most likely he was going to unwrap his gift from Asami at the night on the bed. Akihito shuddered at the thought. Knowing his lover very well, he definitely would not get enough sleep on his birthday. His lover was a pro in pushing his sexual needs to the highest. Last year and the year before that, he always received gifts from his best friends, parents. He felt grateful of course. Therefore, this year instead of only receiving, he wanted to give something in return also.
Sitting on the sofa on the penthouse’s large living room, Akihito kept thinking and thinking but still, no idea. Lazily, he switched on the television to watch some show. Deciding to think later on what to do during his birthday, Akihito gazed at the screen as it showed some cooking programme. His eyes sharpen immediately when the person on the television demonstrated to the people on how to make chocolate chip muffin using simple ingredient. This is it! Akihito thought. Quickly, he dashed to take paper and pen, and began scribbling as the person started to prepare the ingredients. After 30 minutes of watching cooking show, Akihito was sure he could bake the simple chocolate chip muffin. Now, only left to buy the ingredients he needed to make the muffin. Since he was turning 23, he was planning to bake 23 chocolate chip muffins also. With broad smile, he grabbed his wallet and off to the market.

Next day…
Taking out all the ingredients that he bought yesterday, he started to sort them out. Of course, he made sure that Asami was not in the penthouse while he doing this since he was going to give the older man a more bigger and special cupcake with less sugar just for his lover. Grinning widely, he took the note from yesterday and started reading.

Ingredients list:
1/3 lb butter, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
4 medium eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c. milk
2 1/2 c. flour
¾ lb chocolate chips
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C). Butter muffin pan and set aside.
2. In large bowl combine butter and vanilla using a hand mixer until light and fluffy.
3. Slowly beat in eggs, until combined. Slowly add sugar, until completely combined.
4. In small bowl combine baking powder, salt, milk, and flour. Slowly mix into butter until just combined, but still lumpy. Add chocolate chips and combine.
5. Pour mixture into muffin pans, filling each cup two-thirds full.
6. Bake for 25 minutes or until muffins turn golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into center of muffin comes out clean.

Akihito watched the oven in awe as he examined the muffins rise. After baking it for 25 minutes, He opened the oven, and carefully taking out the hot pan from the oven using the heat-resistance glove. The smell was alluring; Akihito could feel his mouth watery just from smelling the delicious muffins. Following the next step on the instruction, he decorated the muffin with cream and added more chocolate chips on top. Feeling satisfied, he put prepared the boxes. Inside his head, he already planned on who he was going to give and the number of muffins given:
One for himself, four for Takato & his wife, two for Kou, two for Mitarai, six for Mom & Dad, one for glasses secretary, one for blond giant man. Left 5 more.
Akihito smiled sadly when he realised there was one more person who he wanted to give the muffins to. The person he felt indebted to. Maybe tomorrow during his birthday he could visit him. With new determination, Akihito packed the muffins into different boxes. 22 muffins were safely stored, now he could proceed to make a bigger with less sugar and chocolate muffin for Asami, knowing fully well that his lover did not like sweets. As Asami’s muffin was finishing, another idea popped into his head. Taking out a small piece of paper, he wrote something to the older man. Keeping the message on a plastic, he rolled it. Then he did extra step on his lover’s muffin. He cut a hole on the middle part of the muffin. Then he put the message inside. He giggled as he could not wait to see what Asami’s expression when he read it. Now all the 23 muffins were ready to be given.

5 May…
His birthday was finally here. Kissing his sleeping lover, Akihito grinned when Asami awoken from the kiss.
“Morning, Asami.” greeted Akihito as he gave Asami another morning kiss.
“It’s rare to see you up early on Saturday.” remarked Asami. His large hand stroke Akihito’s hair gently.
“Today is my birthday. Of course I have to wake up early.”
“Haapy birthday, Akihito.” Asami began kissing and holding Akihito close to his body.
“Asami, not now. I have to go out.” protested Akihito.
“Fine, but ready or not, tonight I’ll give you my gift.” whispered Asami seductively, making Akihito blushed.
“B-bastard, don’t you have work today?”
“I have meeting until afternoon.” Asami answered.
“Call me when you finish, okay.” Asami nodded. Akihito watched as Asami stood up and made his way to the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, Asami came out from bathroom, cleaned. He went to the kitchen to make some coffee and noticed his lover was putting boxes on the table. “What is this?”
“Oh, it’s muffin.” replied Akihito cheerily. He held one and took a bite. “Hmmm, it’s so good. Yeah, I’m a pro.”
“You’re going to eat all of that?” asked Asami amused as there was at least 8 boxes.
“Nope. I’ll give them to everyone. I prepared one for you too.” said Akihito quickly as he took the biggest box and gave it to Asami. “Eat it only after you’re at the club.”
“I can’t eat now. I wonder what you’re planning, Akihito.” teased Asami.
“Just eat after you reach the club.” Akihito batted his eyelashes, making those puppy eyes. “Pleaseee?”
“Seeing today is your birthday, I’ll abide to your unordinary rule.” said Asami, amused.
“Yesss.” shouted Akihito as he made the winning pose. Giving Asami another two boxes, Akihito asked them to be delivered to Kirishima and Suoh. “Don’t worry, your one is the biggest and the most special one.” remarked Akihito when those golden eyes showed the possessive look. After kissing the older man goodbye, he bid farewell to Asami at the entrance with a ‘see you later’ promise.

“Finally, one last box to go.” Akihito had given his best friends the muffins. Both Takato and Kou thanked him. They celebrated Akihito’s birthday on a Japanese restaurant. There, they treated his birthday friend to eat sushi. Of course, Akihito gladly accepted his gift, especially when he could eat his favourite food for free. After spending fun time together with his friends, Akihito met his college, Mitarai. He promised Akihito that he would buy him a drink the next time they were going to a bar. Lastly he asked one of Asami's goons to send the muffins to his parents. “Now it’s left him only.”

Yamazaki startled when the prison guard told him that someone wanted to meet him. He did not expect that person to be Takaba Akihito, who always got into trouble since his teenage year. He lost count on how many times he had to babysit the brat and rescued him from trouble. He knew Akihito trusted him, but he betrayed the trust by using him, causing the kid to get caught by the underworld supreme leader, Asami Ryuuichi. The brat should have lost respect towards him, so why he was here now, sitting in front of him. “Long time no see, Yama-san.”
“Why are you here?” asked Yamazaki suspiciously.
“I come to visit you. Today is my birthday, remember. I want to give you this.” Akihito said as he pushed the box. “The guard say it’s okay to give you this. Oh yeah, you should also eat it as soon as possible since the muffin will not taste nice anymore if you left it for too long.”
“You give me muffins?” asked Yamazaki. His eyes widen disbelief.
“Yup, there are 5 of them, so it’s should be filling enough.”
“Why? Don’t you hate me after what I’ve done?” pointed Yamazaki.
“You meant when you betrayed and tried to shoot me? At first, I was angry. But I realised I could not hate you, not after what you do to help me in the past.” Akihito answered softly. “So yeah, I don’t blame you anymore. Anyway, if not because of you, probably I’ll never be this close to Asami.”
“So the rumor that Asami have someone is true. I see. I never expected that person to be you, Takaba. Although, I should have known the moment he protected you.” After he got into prison, Yamazaki finally smiled again for the first time. “You haven’t change. As troublesome brat as always.” Akihito scowled as he heard Yamazaki comment.
“Yama-san, I have improve you know.” They chatted for some time after that, just like old friend did. Akihito realised the timing after one of the guard told him that it was time for Yamazaki to return back to his cell.
“Takaba, do you remember the last time we talk about your birthday?” said Yamazaki as his back was facing Takaba. “When I’m release from here, I’ll give you.” Akihito watched silently as Yamazaki disappeared into another room.
“I’ll wait for it.” Akihito muttered quietly. Last time, Yamazaki was actually promised to buy a new camera for Akihito as a present for his next birthday. Sadly, that day never came as the man went to jail. So until now, he actually still remembered the promise. Contently, Akihito exited the prison building. He was glad that today he had given the chance to resolve his problem with Yamazaki. Even until know, his feeling never changed. He still respected the man who had saved his life since his teenage year.

Outside, Akihito saw a very familiar black limousine, waiting for him. Opening the door, he stepped inside and came face-to-face with his lover. “I thought you’ll call me when you finished.” remarked Akihito.
“Change of plan. I decided to fetch you myself.” Asami smirked.
“How the heck you know how to find me anyway?” pouted Akihito.
“You’re mine. I’ll always know no matter where you are.”
“Fineee.” Akihito did not know how cute he was when he was sulking.
“Is everything okay now?” asked Asami with a hint of concern on his voice. He understood the person who the boy came to visit in the prison today. After all, he was the one who put Yamazaki to jail in the first place. Akihito snuggled closer to Asami and rested his head on his lover’s shoulder.
“Yeah, it is.” answered Akihito. Asami lifted the boy to sit on his lap. Those strong hands snaked around the waist to embrace his lover closer. They stayed quiet until Akihito break the silence. “Nee, Asami, where are we going now?”
“A good place that famous for its beautiful scenery. There I’ll let you to bring your camera and fulfil what you wish for.”
“Really?” replied Akihito happily.
“However, I expect you to return the favour tonight in our bed.” smiled Asami seductively.
“Bastard, it’s my birthday you know.” laughed Akihito merrily. His laughter grew silence when Asami leaned, and their face just few inches apart.
“That’s why Akihito, you should enjoy the gift that I willingly given to you, slowly till morning. We have enough time for one round anyway.”

Asami stared at the photo of him and his lover. Akihito had took the initiative to put it on frame and slipped it on Asami’s bag before he went for work. It seemed Akihito wanted Asami to keep it with him all the time. He chuckled from his lover cuteness. Yesterday was memorable time for both of them. He let Akihito to take their photos. And of course, the night was another story. He still kept the note that his Akihito hide inside his muffin. He almost laughed when he read his lover’s writing.
Asami, please, please, please, just for today can we take photo together? I promise not to post the photo anywhere. Let me at least take 5 pictures of us, ‘kay.
Btw, do you like the muffin? I made it special just for you:D By special I mean less sugar and no chocolate. I don’t understand why you hate sweet. Next time maybe I’ll bake another one with lots of chocolate to let you try.
