You then have the choice to take the captured monster home and sell it for cash and the opportunity at trade goods, or split it for parts (which are used to make/upgrade equipment). p-possibly I had been leveling too much?
I know they can hit you with some nasty spells if they get going, though (similar class monsters will be random enemies later), so maybe I got lucky, too....
